What's up, Doc?

Saturday morning my daughter wakes me up from a good dream and asks if I could turn on the TV and give her some cereal. I roll out of bed and into the living room turn on the TV put on the cartoons. Stumble into the kitchen and pour her a bowl of CoCo Puffs and make myself a cup of coffee. Normally I fall asleep on the sofa but this time I thought ehh why not watch them with her.
I asked her what her favorite cartoons are and she replied Fairly Odd Parents and Sponge Bob Square pants.
While I was watching her I had a flash back of when I was her age (MANY MANY moons ago). I remember waking up every Saturday morning at the crack of dawn to watch cartoons like Rainbow Bright, the Smurfs, strawberry short cake, Thunder Cats, Scooby Doo Mysteries, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Fraggle Rock, Garfield and Friends, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Inspector Gadget, Jetsons , The Tom and Jerry Show, Transformers...Oh yeah! and my FAVORITE Looney Tunes Pepe Le Pew and Bugs Bunny. Oh I loved it when Bugs would dress in DRAG! OMG funny.
I thought to myself my daughters generation doesn't even KNOW what looney tunes are if anything they know of bugs bunny and six flags magic mountain! But what about the rest of the Gang Porky Pig, Road Runner (not the internet service provider), Sylvester the cat tweedy bird, and the rest. So I went out to buy some DVD's to educate her on cartoon history...hehehe.

Transformers! I was the only girl I knew who watched it. I still love it! Just watched the cartoon movie again the other day.

Rainbow Brite. Again I just watched the movie not too long ago. I love her and the color kids...I miss that show.

She-Ra. Man I wanted to be her when I grew up! She had the coolest friends, and a bitchn' sword.

my thought exactly ...me too! I was such a tom boy. Kids these days don't know what real cartoons are....One day my daughter will be bloggin about sponge bob...oh boy!

I liked the Jetsons and Josie & the Pussycats (the early episodes, before they went into "outer space"), and then the Animaniacs when I was older, but I always loved Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons and oooooold Disney stuff that would be shown on Mousterpiece Theatre. You are so right about Bugs in drag! Woo-woo!

I used to LOVE the shoe gem ya know she has the band the holograms and their rival band was the misfits lol
I also loved the my little ponies movie about the smooze and the flutter ponies! oooh and lady lovely locks!

too many to name! i still love cartoons! i watched alot of looney tunes, rainbow bright, thunder cats, smurfs and my little pony when i was really young, then i loved AHHHHH! real monsters and the angry beavers as an adolesent and as a teen Dexters lab and anime as an adult.

I love bugs bunny...tom & jerry, and of course Transformers....among others. I found lots of the old cartoons on Boomerang...a cable channel. Pretty cool

Rainbow Brite, She-Ra, JEM, Strawberry Shortcake..wow that takes me back. I feel kinda old now...I also watched Loony Tunes and there was Tiny Toons and Animaniacs..anyone remember that? And I watched the Batman cartoon, X-Men, Ninja Turtles, Duck Tales, Goofy show, Inspector Gadget, Eek the Cat, Beetlejuice. Lots of TV! No wonder I turned out like this.. : P

I remember watching Strawberry Shortcake, The Smurfs, Rainbrow Brite, Care Bears...all the girly ones HAHA! I HATE having to monitor what cartoons my kids are watching these days. I remember when I was little (which wasnt that long ago) that ALL cartoons were for kids. Now there are nasty cartoons or cartoons that teach awful habits...its sad.

LADY LOVELY LOCKS!!*SCREEECH* I had those little clips for your hair in all those great 80s colors.. i LOVED those.. one of my 'friends' stole them from me when i was in like 1st grade... and my carebear figurines.. i loved the carebears! lets see.. what else.. thunder cats of course, he-man, rainbow bright, transformers, and jem.. shes the reason i dyed my hair pink when i was older..im in there with all of you!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the angry beavers.. but i was in high school when i watched that! haha.. and dexter's laboratory OMG and INVADER ZIM!!

When i worked in the mall, the 80s trend hit.. NONE of the kids knew anything about them.. they liked carebears cuz they were bears..and none of them knew it was a cartoon!!
