Hey everyone, just curious. If any of you ever put tattooed someone's name would you cover it up or just leave it? I think its just a chapter in life that we all go thruough so I for one, would just leave it. So tell me, What would you do?

I'd probably cover it. I worked in tattoo shops since I was 18 so I learned all about the name curse early on and I never put anyones name on me. The only people I think I would ever put on me would be my kids, they are the only people that I will love forever even if they do something stupid.
I would get it lasered off then you could get whatever you wanted on there. Most cover ups (depending on size and where it is) doesn't really give you a lot to choose from. Most cover ups have to be big and black.
I would never get a tattoo of someone's name in the first place, but if I did I think I would cover it. I wouldn't give the other party the satisfaction of knowing their name was on me. My friend's (now) ex got her name tattooed on him and when they broke up he got "F#ck" tattooed above it. As in "f#ck Lena". Yeah, classy.
I once went with a fella who had not a name but 2 portraits of a ex - I was probably slightly bothered but I never said anything but yeah, kinnda a turnoff for me but understandable.
I would never get a name, for the karma/curse reasons.. haha BUT if i got wasted and stumbled home with DAMIEN on my ass.. I'd leave it. How hilarious!! And hopefully a great story! If it were on my neck however... Hopefully I had enough sense to make it a cool font or incorporate it with a picture...if not.. and i can't cover it up with anything else..it's LASERED .. Im not wearing scarves my whole life! haha
1. I've had tattoos, and I've had laser removal, and the removal hurts a LOT more. Also, the laser removal can leave scars, and doesn't fully remove the tattoo. I wouldn't consider it a "just in case" option when deciding to get someone's name on you in the first place.

2. My current BF wears his ex-wife's initials in a big, red heart, and I wouldn't ever have him remove or cover it. She has played a huge role in who he is today, and their time together could and should never be erased.

3. My ex BF has a Kanji symbol on his chest. When I asked what it said, his first response was, "S*** Happens." He then explained that it was actually the Kanji for his Japanese ex-wife's name. His first reply seemed pretty accurate, after all.
In 2004, I had the initial of my then boyfriend's name inked on my left ring finger. At the time, it was 'cute' and 'sweet'.

Of course the tattoo lasted longer than the relationship.

Four year later, I had my hand tattoo'd black. Since it's part of a project I have in mind for my hands, I am very happy to be rid of the offending letter once and for all.

While I do not want to discourage people from getting a name or initial tattoo'd on them, I would suggest perhaps having an image that will remind you of your significant other. That way, if you should break up, at least you have a nice piece of art and can look at it as a mark of time in your life, as opposed to something that needs to be covered up.

These days, a lot of artists will either refuse the work or ask you 83473894738382 times if you are absolutely certain, as they can forsee a cover-up in the future.
I really don't know... I'd probably try to have it covered. A friend of mine had his now ex wife's name on his chest. Once they separated, he had a cover up done that looks like a "VOID" stamp right over the top of it... It's actually a pretty funny way to thumb your nose at someone!!
intersting question well lets see here first off i don't think i would get a name but if i did..... well would i cover it up it all depends on the situation on how there not in your life anymore. i mean if they died then yeah keep it. and if you parted in good terms keep it, i guess but if it ended badly i may just have it crossed out and make a funny out of it like after the crossed out name have it say who's next or a question mark, or cover it if i could.
NOT that I would know about having a tattoo of someone name on me...but my friend had his Ex wife name on his neck ...well they divorced and he had VOID put on top of it ...I thought it was pretty funny
..
Funny you brought that up. A really good friend of mine has a tattoo of her ex-hubby on her ankle and went and put a red circle with a line through it. Pretty fucken funny...haha
