This house, built in 1960 and offered for sale for the first time in 48 years, is practically a time capsule of the era. There's a TYPEWRITER in the office, fer chrissake! If you live, or want to live, in New Zealand, then snap this beauty up! (Click on that link to see the house in all its glory!)

Where does the staircase lead? It sticks out a full story above the rest of the house. Great view... for one person at a time!

Oh my god, what an AWESOME photo that would be... a whole chorus line of pinup gals going up the stairs!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! That staircase! It's totally a Habitrail for Humans :D So much light, it brings me to tears. Literally.
And $85,000??? Even if it needs $100,000 in repairs it's cheaper than even the dinkiest cardboard box here. I'm moving to Illinois.

This one is almost as good! Does it remind anyone else of a Habitrail, or is that just me? (Click on the link for more images)
So that's $660 we've raised so far. Nearly there! ;D

I love pointless staircases:
"Where are you going?"
"Oh, nowhere..."

And I think all houses should come standard with a chorus line of pinup girls!

From the Habitrail house: Can you explain what ANYTHING in this room is? First, I was confused by the ceiling... but as I looked around, I realized that I also couldn't decipher the colorful thingie... or the door to nowhere!

After much eye strain and brain boggling, I have no idea what the door could be for. It's just... weird. BUT! I like to think that that room was party central. The ceiling decoration screams "funky lighting goes here", and the room leads onto the deck for mid-party chill-outs. The colourful thingy is an old-fashioned DJ booth! I bet if you rip up the ugly industrial carpeting, you'll find genuine parquet flooring underneath. Uh-huh. ;D

The DJ booth faces... a h*** in the wall, covered with smoked Plexi? Oh man, this room makes my head hurt. Let's just stick with the faboo pad in New Zealand!

I suspect some manner of "illicit substances" went into designing and decorating that house - peace, love & staircases to nowhere. No wonder your head hurts trying to figure it out!

The NZ pad is in better condition anyway and: PINK BATHROOM!

That electric range ,, if you burn your tortillas on them they leave a crop circle on the bottom ...trust me my range looks like yours but in a mustard color ..c
Loving this house! I remember the green carpeting and green fridge we had growing up...but I guess that was the 70's not the 60's. But Very cool!
i like the litle garden under te stairs... very cool!
g damn thats rad and i love NZ
"In original condition..." No kidding.
What is it about Australia and New Zealand? Is there some fabulous mid-20th century time warp down there? I'm from the deep southern hemisphere and I never noticed anything like this...
