How Vintage are you?

Since we all love pin ups, we must all be at least a little into the vintage lifestyle, so I'm wondering, how vintage are you?

I try to wear vintage inspired outfits every time I go out. Flowers in my hair, pearls, dresses, heels, gloves, and of course my red lipstick. I'm also a huge fan of Emily Post, and try to follow her advice as best I can (although it's not always easy!). I have a vintage (1950's) styled bedroom so that I wake up in the mood every morning. I also watch as many old movies, and read as many old mags and books as I can. I love the vintage lifestyle, and try to live my life as a pin up every day.

So... what about you?

Wow, this is tough to gauge. As I sit here typing away on my fully-modern laptop, I can look around my living room and see my antique vacuum cleaner (works!), a couple of antique cameras (which I still use on occasion), and my assortment of antique electric fans (working order, but just decoration) all displayed around my flat-screen TV. I'm a hybrid of vintage, retro, and modern.
I'm currently wearing high-waist Levis, a beater, and a cardigan, and this is a pretty typical casual outfit for me. My Chucks are kicked off by the sofa. Casual, but still, I have on eyeliner. When I dress up to go out, I'm likely to wear genuine vintage, from undergarments on out, but for a day at a client's office I appreciate the simplicity of pantyhose. My car dates "all the way back" to 1995, but it starts with firm regularity, and I can get parts at my local Checker.
I enjoy classic movies, and also new-releases-destined-to-be-classic. Old pulp magazines such as True Romance and True Love are an impeccable resource for reference material for trying to get the look just right, and also a source of terrifically unintentional humor, when viewed with modern eyes.
As for manners... I rely mostly on Judith Martin (Miss Manners) who is also difficult to follow to a T, but boy, that is one politely snarky gal. I enjoy reading her column, even when it doesn't apply to me.

First all I do admire the dedication some of you have to the lifestyle. Honestly, I'm not that dedicated...I wear whatever the hell I feel like wearing depending on my mood.Sometimes it's more rockabilly sometimes it's more punk or more hobo or whatever. For "nostalgia" sake I'll dress up more punk sometimes, I find it comfy.But I don't do the mohawk, army boots, leather jacket look anymore. It's been retired I'm too old now...aaww..to be 17 again! : P

Not quite as vintage as I'd like to be. I've always had a fascination for vintage fashions and culture (pinup, greasers, WWII propaganda, etc.) but it wasn't until relatively recently that I've been able to really get into it. Now, don't get me wrong, this is 2009. Which means I'll never be giving up my cell phone nor my computer with a decently fast internet connection (though I do try to keep the former on vibrate or silent and the latter will be better hidden away in vintage styled cabinetry as soon as I am able). I believe firmly in gentlemanly behavior (after all a lady should never have to carry more than her purse) and find that one of the simplest pleasures in life is knowing when it is appropriate to take off ones hat out of courtesy and respect.

Cute! I like Wink's description! I guess I would be a hybrid of vintage, edgy, classy, modern which actually just sounds like an oxymoron. I have an obsession with the vintage style that seems to come through me in everything I do. It's just my natural taste by default! When I decided to decorate my house I just started putting things together and suddenly I looked around only to find it resembled an old French boudoir.
I watch I Love Lucy for comfort at night...that show makes me feel like someone wrapped a warm blanket around me.
I try to dress classy and like a lady everyday because if I don't I get an unsettled/panicky feeling when I leave my house. <-----(OCD)
I always have on at least some make-up no matter where I'm going or else I feel like everyone is looking at me like I have broccoli in my teeth.
I get overly titillated when I thrift shop and score (this also happens when I really like an outfit I'm wearing).
I daydream of dressing up with like minded gals and going out on the town for martinis.
I act like a 1950's housewife when I'm home and usually don't realize it until someone points it out.
I already think too hard and wear myself out throughout the day/night so if I felt an obligation to act or be a certain way all the time it would exhaust me. So instead, I just do what comes natural and it all falls into place. All of this mixed together gives you a pin up gal with a plethora of tattoos in red lipstick driving a beat up Bonneville your grandmother should be driving singing Sinatra at the top of her lungs and heading to the discount grocery.

I would *love* to go thrifting with you! What fun! I can ride for days on the high from a fabulous find. Then we'll host a lovely little cocktail party. And drink whiskey like sailors. ;)

I recognize the date and fully appriciate the technology and more educated and free society i live in now,but still adore the romance of the yester years .I own a vintage schwinn bicycle that i have deemed "betty the blue bombshell", a vintage travel iron with its red and white polka dotted case,my couch is an antique, i have vintage underpinnings that allways go under my dresses and if im going out im always dresses to kill in my fitted dress heals, pearls, hair flower and hairdo. so i guess you could call me simi vintage. if i had more money i would deff go all out! white wall tires for my vintage 1940 chevy truck, depression era glass, and all the vintage wordrobe i could pack into my closet. but alas im as vintage as my budget allows. I love donning my vintage style and going to swing dance and having cute cocktails with my other vintage peeps, thats what i love most about this culture is the class and style, women looked like women and men like men, and thats sexy and fun.I love everything about the retro romance but when it comes down to it im 24 in 2009. give me a scandalous burlesque show, swing dancing or an oldtime circus any day over going to the mall or clubing, allthough i enjoy it all

My style is so diverse, when I go out fancy, I tend to wear vintage inspired or vintage. However, my everyday life I like to experiment with other and sometimes more comfortable styles. LOL

Hell yeah, I still have my punk/crusty gear. I tried to give my boots to charity and seeing them in a box packed away just pulled on my heart strings. I'm really relaxed with how I dress. I dress up when we're going out. But come on I work at a dog boarding place, so dressing up would be really silly at my work place.
