I think your scent is as important if not more than the clothes...what scents do you wear and why?


Me: L'Heure Bleue by Guerlain created in 1912...it's my absolute decadent pleasure. so many layers...it's like a drug to me.
and...
Paris by Yves Saint Laurent created in 1983. I have been wearing this for approximately 21 years. (my first bottle was a shoplifted tester from the dillard's fragrance counter...teen angst) It's my tried and true "everyday" scent. It's heady and playful...not too tart...like me.

I love cotton candy! I used to wear it as a scent, and then one day a guy walked past me, stopped, looked around confused, and then asked out loud, "Why does it smell like a circus in here?" NOT the effect I was going for!

I have to admit I have been looking for a signature scent. I always have a bottle of Chanel 5 on standby. When I want to feel truly retro I wear Evening in Paris. It was my grandmothers scent. She used to get full gift sets of that...I am one of those who want something syrupy sweet really. I love scents...
I used to like Lancome's Tresor, but my boyfriend never let me wear it, because it smelled too "grandma-y." So that never got past the test counter. My signature scent is currently Kenneth Cole's "Black" for women. Dark, sensous, beauty.
"It's very classy but a little edgy, definitely for a woman who dances to her own beat. It's moody and mysterious, and yet at the same time there's an allure to it."
I also like Victoria's Secret "Very Sexy" for women (red one)... Both are amazing. I wear it when I'm in the mood.
I've recently gotten into Armani's "Diamonds;" it reminds me of a formal movie star event Marilyn Monroe would wear it to.

i like burberry , its soft and warm smelling. things that smell warm and enviting are my favs. i love vanilla oils to add to unsented lotions after a shower, my fav sent is just me, just clean me. i love cliniques happy, it realy does smell happy, for those summery days, a cooler sent!

it doesn't make me sad at all...L'Heure Bleue reminds of classic architecture, silk and fur and later it smells like buttercream frosting. It's definitely not a "light" or "jaunty" scent...like I said, it took being in my mid-30's to be able to pull it off. It is something you wear when you finally understand the difference between quality not quantity...It's a scent you wear when you finally understand romance and the complexities of it all...when you finally have experienced life enough to know to stop and take that sky in just before the sun drops below the horizon and the dark evening begins.

I hate almost all modern men's scents because ever since CK One everything smell androgynous. Esentially synthetic jasmine and citrus. I don't really want to smell like laundry detergent.

Maybe I'm an old fogey.

So what do I wear?

Mouchoir de Monseiur by Guerlain. I'm older now and can get away with the more complex and elegant scent of Mouchoir.

For business, Vetiver or Eau Savage.

When you smell L'Heure Bleue, does it make you sad? It always makes me melancholy.

For those who'll think I'm crazy, try some L'Heure Bleue on your skin and see if it doesn't do the same to you. Then try something like Jicky by Guerlain and see if it doesn't perk you up emotionally.

Another thing that surprises me it that no one's mentioned Chanel No. 5. I love entering into a room and discovering that a woman is wearing Chanel No. 5. For me, it's a classic which brings out a flood of images. The ultimate "boudoir" scent.
