Pinups and nutz....I mean Cherry's?

This was brought to my attention in a convo earlier and now
I'm just curious
What is our obsession with cherries? Has anyone ever noticed it looks a bit familiar?? Call me crazy but it looks like two nutz?
Do two cherry's have any meaning?
Do cherry's signify your virginity?

I never thought about the nut thing, I always just thought they were cute. Although I'm not big on cherries. I do like them but, at the moment, don't own anything cherry.

Haha! I like cherries because they're tasty! My fave fruits and I usually don't eat fruit. To me they're special because Vancouver is full of cherry trees..you can get em for free on any street. And it's so beautiful in the spring with all the cherry blossoms.

But yeah...Don't know where the cherry/rockabilly thing started that would be interesting to find out...

I was wondering the same thing... I have a cherry/skull tattoo and own tons of stuff but have no idea why I like them so much. Or why they are so big in our scene. My mom assumed it was because the town I grew up in is the "cherry city", but really I think they're just cute. And kinda sexy....

Roxy, did you grow up in Salem??? Our store is called Cherry Redd cuz we're in the Cherry City and cuz it's a common theme in this genre...

I think there's some, um, inuendos that go with them. People have asked me if our logo was meant to look like breasts, or if it just turned out that way... lol...

In the 50's cool cats (greasers, teddy boys etc.) would refer to their girlfriends as "cherries", so I'm assuming the current cherries-everywhere look has grown out of the 50's revival (esp. rockabilly). As for the meaning, I'm sure there are many, both innocent and not so much ;)
