Photographers.. what are your biggest pet peeves?

So, I always wonder if there is anything I can do to help a shoot run more smoothley.. especially when its the first time shooting with a photog.... It's your turn to Vent!!!!

From what I know having good costumes, being prepared with make up and being on time or even showing up at all are huge factors.

Pet peeve.... hummmm , okay .....The one thing that gets me most is a model who gives me the same look everytime. Mix it up girls !!! The more facial expressions that you give a photographer the better the photo will come out...... As Roy Varga say's " It's all in the face" . A facial expression can make or brake a photo.... hope this helps .................

ya i bet... it totally is all in the face...
i've noticed my pet peeve regarding myself as a pinup, is i get TOO MUCH FACE!!!
i get "too" pinup... i need to tone it down...

pet peeve about photographers, is when they are CLUELESS about pinup, and they want to shoot a pinup....
i know i can teach alot, but i get hired onto sets asa pinup stylist (wardrobe, hair, (i usually order a MAC lady for makeup), pinup pose coaching)):
FOR INSTANCE:
i get hired on set to get the model in her poses, and looking pretty, and the PHOTOGRAPHER on set talks over me and asks the model to move completely different, and disregards the perfect pinup pose (it doesnt always happen),
I"M SURE ONE OF YOU PHOTOGRAPHERS understands HOW diFFiCULT it can be to pose a girl who has NEVER done pinup before.... SHE GIGGLES, thinks it a cute game, and that it is a job for some of us!
and kinda wastes your time... (YOU KNOW!!!)

so for me to pose the girl and that pose not to be used as an image.... i'd rather go home!
(i'm not a b****, it MAKES ME TICK!!!!!)

everyone else loves her photos but she is never happy. thats when I hit the barstool and cool off.

thats a really good one... made me think of a MOTHER DAUGHTER COMBO from this past year....
daughter gets pinups doneby me, and LOVES THEM.... buys a package for her mother, she gets hers done too!
mother buys a family portrait package, AND THE VERY NEXT DAY after the moms shoot we go to the beach and meet there family of 12 for a huge family portrait!
i see the daughter at the bar 3 weeks later, she said my moms pics looked great, so did the family's pics... THANK YOU... she says, "but my mom didnt like her pinups, she thought you would edit her fat out"

OH OK.... so she doesnt own a mirror????... IT"S ALL YOU BABE!!!! i cant edit out your whole body!
the poses were flattering too,, people have wierd ways of thinking!

One of my pet peeves is too much talking between the MUAH and model while doing hair and makeup.

OMG! You're right on point! I have a friend whose photos I have taken and spent HOURS smoothing away all her rolls and cutting off about 20lbs off of her body. Do you know what she asks me? Can you do something about my face and neck and chin? Okay, first of all, I DID NOT charge her, this was a friendly shoot. Secondly, she didn't even realize that I had shaved so much fat off of her body (I guess she thought that my camera took 20lbs off..LOL). I showed her the originals and the edits and said "look, I spent a whole lot of time in photoshop getting your body nice, I don't really have time to do your face too". She couldn't believe how much FAT I took off her. So if I am to alter the face AND the body, what's the point? She ends up looking like someone else!

That is a list to pay attention to! Your rule #1 seems like a general rule of thumb. Most of us gals whom model probably heard about or watch America's Next Top Model when in the first (or second season) one of the models showed up to a "Go See" wearing Pink Panties and had to wear a designer outfit that you could see the undies through! Ever since I saw that I invested in some nude "barely there" Calvin Klein's. Then again, I'm going to be dipping into some body hugging latex soon and will be going commando of course!

I'm not a photographer but as a model I try to think like one. Hopefully my input on this is welcomed!

1. Be ON TIME. I consider their time JUST as important as mine and I hate to wait for people too! If I was late it would have been because of a major emergency (Like, getting pulled by Po-Po, sudden sickness, or my house was on fire).
2. Preparation (clothes, make-up, hair and a grasp on the style of the shoot) because if their pics don't look good I don't look good.
3. I'm guilty of wanting a shot of liquor to loosen me up but there is a line where "loosening up" and getting totally plowed is crossed. Plus, if you are blitzed you can see it in the eyes...all glazed over. Unless, that's the look you are going for, ha!
4. Don't be a Diva/Drama Queen just because you are pretty. I'm such a stickler for this! I, from a model stand point, don't expect to be doted on, treated like a Queen, or showered with compliments from a photographer so mainly (if a model or want to be is reading this) please don't do this! It's setting a bad example for those of us who just want good photos and productivity from like minded creative people.

5. Give notice if canceling! If you scheduled a shoot with a photographer, showed up on location early in the morning with your hair in curlers, no phone call and they didn't show (without notice) would you shrug it off? Bad form.

6. Have fun but remember that it is still a profession so take it seriously and stay professional. It will be more reputable for you in the long run when someone needs references regarding you as a model.

These are great!!! I find that you never know where a shoot is going to end up so I bring tons of different wardrobe changes, accessories and props from my own personal collection. I like the suggestion of bringing a robe because I used to do a button up shirt but I think the robe is way more classy!!!

I think all my pet peeves have been covered here. I don't have too much trouble with late/no shows , but it's definitely unacceptable. One big one is the model that does their own make-up without really knowing what they're doing. That really adds time to post.
