So i usually buy semi inexpensive fake lashes for shoots, and no matter how much I love the look and vow to clean/care/store for them as instructed, I find myself compulsively tossing them after a single use.

Has anyone found a pair of lashes nice enough to keep, and if so, what are they??

Do any of you wear lashes everyday? I love the look of them (although haven't attempted a pair in probably a year) and go to cosmetology school. I worry about looking like I'm "trying too hard". I suppose its all in the lashes and their application but still, ya know? I still have an un-opened package of the single lashes. Don't know where to begin with those!
For some reason, I'm the only gal in my circle of friends who doesn't (usually) have trouble putting on lashes. Maybe it's because I wear them often enough to get practice? Anyway, I currently have lashes from Ardell, Andrea, Disguises, Secret Wishes, Fright Night (costume lashes), Wet-n-Wild, and Sephora. All of them have survived at least one use so far, some have gone for quite a bit longer. Even the costumey FrightNight lashes have been worn at least three times now! Like others have said, apply them AFTER your makeup, remove them carefully (I peel them off from the corner, without any removal goo), peel the excess glue off, and store them in their tray. Good luck!
My face is not on unless I have lashes on. I don't use the single ones, I prefer the strip ones. I think I've said it before, it is faster for me to put on false eyelashes than it was for me to use mascara. I've been wearing them almost daily now for 6 years and I don't think I could ever go without them when I put my face on.

I just made myself so happy! lol I knew I had an un-opened package of individual lashes but I didn't realize I still had 2 un-opened packages of the demi lashes from Ardell. Weeee!! :D
Okay, I'm totally confused about something. I've read conflicting advice! On one site it'll say to apply all your eye make-up first before applying eyelashes and another site will tell me that you need to have eyelids "clean and free of debris". And what about the mascara...when do i apply that?! lol
I am also a chepie with lashes...I always think i can clean and reuse, but they always look like poo after the firt wear :(
I found some super-cheapies by NYC at Target. I'll give them a try! As far as cleaning them... I only put on enough mascara to blend the tips of my own lashes into the falsies. I'm also fairly light-handed with the glue, I guess, but I don't find that the lashes get clumpy or anything. When I peel them off at the end of the day, they look awfully similar to when I first took them out of the tray.
"free of debris" does not mean make up. It means free of glue from yesterday and free of goobers, and stuff like that.

doing my eyes:
I start with my brows, then apply the base for my shadow (I like Mac Paints in a tube and apply a very sheer layer) then the shadow highlights, definition on the crease, and then on the lid. Next I apply eye liner to my top lid only (I don't like the way it looks when eyeliner is applied to the lower lash line). Now I'm ready for my false eyelashes. I use duo glue in "noir" (Black). It blends into the eyeliner and "clear" glue tends to be visible against my liner. I first, holding the tube of glue pointed up, squeeze out a little glue out of the tip of the tube, so a little falls over the edge of the opening. Then I run that tiny bit of glue along the strip of the lashes. Next I apply the lash as close to the lash line as possible. I do NOT wait for it to become tacky so I can maneuver it if I have to. The black glue does not mess up my liner. Next, since the glue was wet and not tacky, I take a Q-tip and press the lash down so it's firm and the Q-tip absorbs any extra glue. After they are fully dry (about 5-10 minutes) I apply mascara to the lower lashes and blend my top lashes into the false lashes, but do not coat the whole false lash.

Removal, I peel them away from the outer corner, and then with my nails, peel away the layer of glue attached to the lash strip.

its funny i can apply ANY LASH THERE IS to a fellow pinup, but i cant to myself!
That is funny Soda Shop Sue. And sad! :( I finally put some on today. It took me 2 attempts for each eye. While I don't think i've perfected the craft, I think I did a much better job then when I tried it over a year ago. :)
