I just can't find the right type of make up for me.I would like to achieve a soft natural (adult) pin up look. The problem is I have oily skin and I chase after a three year old all day so I sweat most of the makeup off by the end of the day.I would greatly love your input of what works best on a budget.

Max Factor makes a great long lasting foundation that's light, I can't remember the name but it comes in a squeeze bottle. Then set it with powder. Cover Girl makes some good pressed powders. When you're all done applying press/blot the powder instead of sweeping.

Ah ha! I've found it. Max Factor Lasting Performance Stay Put Makeup
Try using a powder foundation if you have oily skin. It will absorb the oils and give a matte finish. You can find many brands at many a price point. Most "mineral" make-up is powder based too so it should be quite easy to find something if your skin is sensitive.
Use powder blushes (versus cream formulas). Matte is better for oily skin but a little glow might be nice.
Use a base (like MAC eye paints) for eyelids before you use eyeshadows. This will prevent the oils in your skin from creasing and fading your eye make-up.
Grab a waterproof black eyeliner and red lipstick and you'll be pinned up!
XoXoX
I have very oily skin too. Everyone's face and skin is different but I'll explain to you what I do. I wash my face 2-3 times daily with Dial Antibacterial Gold soap. My skin is also sensitive so this is the only way I can prevent my skin from breaking out. My dermatologist said my skin is PERFECT and to keep doing what I'm doing. If your skin is oily don't use a moisturizer... I don't care what anybody tells you it makes it WORSE. They just want to sell you their products.

I use strictly powder foundations. If you have oily skin STAY AWAY from liquid make up. It clogs your pores.
I have combo skin (oily forehead and nose with dry cheeks) so I know allllllll about how temperamental skin can be!!

I love Dr Feelgood Mattifying Face Balm. I originally got it as a free sample with something i bought on sephora.com, and having never heard of it, i tried it.

It's colorless, so if you've already applied your foundation/powder perfectly and you're starting to get slick spots later in the day it's perfect for targeted shine control. I don't know why it works but you just put a little on your fingertips and it mattes the spots you put it on. Try it!!!
Thanks so much!
I'm also a make up artist and I'm telling you now they only sell you moisturizers just to make money. You don't REALLY need them.
Couldn't agree more with Miss Bea Rock, Dr Feelgood by benefit is worth every penny!
I suffer with oily skin too and I love using the new mineral powdered foundations, they take a little getting used to but they're great once you get the hang of it, you build the coverage gradually so you never look caked in the stuff. Also get yourself a bottle of Shelaq by Benefit too, magic little bottle of liquid that you paint on over eyeliner/lips and it makes it stay put till you use your makeup remover!
Mineral makeup for day to day wear is quick and painless. If I put it on in the morning it stays pretty much the same throughout the day. And just like someone else said, you can adjust how heavy the coverage is. It's so light, I don't even feel the makeup on my face.
I use CoverGirl Aqua Smooth and then put a light powder over it. Even when I sweat, it doesn't wear off. It lasts all day on me and I have oily skin, too. When you get shiny, just re-powder.
Props to mineral makeup! I never ever ever in my whole life liked my skin.. i have oily combo big pores dry spots.. you name it!! until i started using mineral foundations.. then all of a sudden it was perfect. people would tell me i looked like a porcelain doll.. if they only knew.. haha
ALSO a new discovery i made might interest you..
if you have ever seen a LUSh store (most of the time in macys but i found a stand alone store here) they sell hippy soap, body butter bars and shampoo..etc.. Some of it smells like patchouli BUT NOT ALL OF IT!! its just all natural.. and its amazing. they have a mask called Ayesha.. or something close.. with witchhazel, asparagus, and some other stuff in it.. it dries up all of the oil.. evenly moisturizes.. and unclogs/shrinks pores.. IT IS MY NEW FAVORITE treatment!! you should check it out.. because as my grandma taught me "GREAT MAKEUP STARTS WITH GOOD SKIN!!"
I got this as a sample too and it does work (Benefit, Dr. Feelgood Face Balm). It really does make the spot you apply it to Matte and has such an interesting soft texture you can't stop rubbing it on for some reason. It's great for targeting specific spots that are shiny which helps in not having to apply product on your entire face.
