Pinup girls with NO tattoos??

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't quite sure. Anyway, I'm very torn on the subject of tattoos, and one of my friends told me that you cannot be a pinup with no tattoos. I disagreed. While i'm not totally against the idea of getting one, I don't think it's completely necessary to complete the look either. I gave him the example of Bernie Dexter for instance, who yes...has a few, but isn't all tatted up either. What do you all think?

I agree with you. A pin up represents classic feminine sexiness. Perhaps in modern time it has become more of a high demand to show off body art & is more acceptable on women but I dont recall Jayne Mansfield Betty Paige or Marilyn Monroe with any.

you don't need tattoos to be a pinup! do't worry, ur friends are wrong!  I love tattoos and piercing, but if you don't have it's not a probem, if you are a pinup inside ;)

I have worked with a few Pin Ups without Tattoos or any form of body modification aside from the 2 regular earrings all us ladies get as small children.

 

Pin Ups started without ink, its just moved forward with time and expanded the lines and definition of beauty !!!

The original pin up models never had tattoos. Personally I think tattoos on a woman makes her look trashy and are out of place on a pinup model.

You do NOT have to have tattoos to be a Pin-Up model. The models without tattoos are generally considered VINTAGE Pin Up. Look at Doris Mayday, she is gorgeous and so successful and she has no visible tattoos. Your friend is mistaken :)

I have no tattoos! Although I would like to get one sometimes...like a butterfly or something like that.

Doing pin up is about loving yourself, for who you are - if who you are has tattoos, then that's awesome! If not, then equally awesome! Who you are will be reflected in the photos better if you feel like yourself. :)
