Personally I hate them. I think they look cheap. I don't think they are sexy, either. I absolutely hate seeing pin-ups in retro hair and wardrobe wearing stripper shoes.
there's a fine line between tramp and vamp...classless and classy. Just like there's a very definite line between stripper and burlesque artist. Sexy does not have to be slutty. I suppose it's all about attitude and behavior, not necessarily about the shoes. Having said that, I hate the porn star shoes, too. ick.
I actually agree.
I think it takes away the classy look to the pin up
like jeeze they just totally kill the look.
I think the stripper shoes are more for like fetish shoots.
And I mean the big platform shoes not stilletos...
those are way too cute I have so many pairs of pumps and stilletos.
A lot of it depends on how it makes you feel... if you don't like the stripper shoes, they're not gonna wear right and it may look awkward. If they make you feel beautiful or sexy, that'll come through the shot. And while I may be a purist, I think that there is a vast difference between retro and vintage. If you're going vintage, go all the way, hair, attire, shoes, make-up, the whole nine. Retro or "inspired" I give a little more slack to.
I have a thing for shoes in general. Just bought a pair of 5" heels with concealed platform for my Bettie tribute shoot but they are too small so I need an exchange. I've been promising myself ok platform mary-janes for a few months now too.
I lived (and worked) in Vegas and never saw those shoes...Haha.. oh well.
Must be a new thing.
I agree with Paige that it is all about style and making a look your own.
And I will be the first to say, I am guilty of the stripper shoe look in my pics.
But Stripper are kind of the evolution of Burlesque...Hear me out on this one... And if that is all you see, you get accustomed, well kind of ignorant to anything else..
It is all really about what your exposed to ..Image wise. I think most of all, for me anyhow...
Lastly, I would just like to say that I think it is absolutely ironic, a bit of topic of pinup modeling, but that now in High Fashion and among the celebs, even Dita Von Teese is all about the Christian Louboutins, which are essentially high class, overprices Stripper Stilettos.
Would anyone mind sending me a link to see these infamous Marilyn platforms please??
And for those who were wondering, there is a little piggy bank style stop just under the ball of your foot in those tip jar stripper shoes. You gots to shake your money outta that bit!
