Just a couple of thoughts.  As a photographer I find that I look for a particular type of model.  Foremost is that they are having fun and willing to let me experiment with various camera settings and techniques. Always looking to challenge myself to be creative. For pin-up I find that the models attire and the venue are much more important than standard fashion shoots. Integrity in hair stye even makeup is also important. Of course once you establish a contact with a model with the right attitude, attire, MU and willing to shoot at an appropriate venue the likelihood of a standout image goes way up.
