What's your favorite? What pieces are essential under your vintage and retro dresses?

Personally, I never wear a dress without an open bottom girdle underneath. Not only does it hold my tummy in and keep my butt from jiggling too much, it also holds up my stockings. I also like to wear a corset/cincher under tight dresses to make my waist just a little tinier.

Under high waisted pants I wear a spanks...just for that extra firmness and to keep my tummy in.

I love the firmness of an OBG under dresses, but generally have a helluva time finding underpinnings that fit me "right." By modern standards, my waist-to-hip ratio is too great, and I am too squishy, so anything that doesn't make me bulge on my lower bits is actually baggy at the waist. Similarly, if it fits at the waist, my hips/thighs are popping out from the compression. As a result, my best-fitting OBG is vintage. The only tag reads "Biflex 2064 size 31." I have no idea where that size is being measured, since it reflects neither the inches of my waist or my hips. I could use lessons in how to fit myself properly!

I love my long leg, high waist, body shapers. I have tons of them, different holds, colors, brands...love them! I'm still searching for the perfect OBG, but I know its out there...lol. Also, my corsets for certain outfits. Can't live without them.

have you tried ragu girdles? I have a high waisted side zip, and natural waist side zip and a natural waist pull on OBG. They all hold me in better than any other pantie girdle that I have bought at torrid, or sears. Ragu girdles can be purchased online. They are pretty basic looking, but they do the job under the clothes.

If I'm wearing a dress...or a skirt, my OBG would be essential...along with my seamed nylons.

I haven't tried them yet, but I want to. I've heard that they are the best. I'm just so cautious about buying things without being able to try them on, and I can't find them anywhere but online.

Is it worth the risk?

I am the same way...I am leary of buying without trying one (except Whirlingturban because it's made to my measurements) but I bought all 3 online and they are great! The high waisted one creates a bit of backfat bulge on me, but if I'm wearing a bolero, it doesn't matter. So YES, it is totally worth it! Use your waist size to order.

i stick to basics, bcause its what i have. stockings ,garter belt , bra thats all. but i wish i had a girdle to wear with a waist cincher and tummy flatener, haaa.
