So we have quite a few threads about pin curls, wet sets, rollers, etc. But what about what happens after your set? What are your tips and tricks for sleeping? How do you wear it the day after, how about three days after? What are your favorite touch up tricks? Do you use your fingers or a curling iron to bring the shape back?

Everyone has a different style, and what works for one person might not work for another. So let's share what we know! The ladies in the 50's could make their sets last for a week.... let's see if we can too.

I'm looking forward to reading more about wet sets... and how to make it last a week! I can't get my hair to last a day before I have to wash it again.

And what did they sleep on to keep it shapely? A neck stand pillow like the Geisha's used?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Just to clear up, this thread is about how to make your wet sets last, not how you set it. We have quite a few threads for that already.

Thanks!

Wow! A week is so long!! I can usually make mine last 4 days.  Initially, after I take out the rollers, I let them air dry longer, a good 30 minutes,  This is sooo important, because if you brush them out without them being completely dry, your hair will completely fall apart and not hold the curl. At the end of the first night, I like to brush it smooth and then cover with a chiffon scarf or snood. I prefer the scarf because it holds the curl close to your head,  At the end of the second day, I usually take a spray bottle and lightly mist the curls and re-roll them in the pillow rollers. The third day, they are still lookin' mighty fine. This night, again, sleep with the scarf.  By the forth day, if they don't have as much oomf as before, I usually change the part, or put my hair into a nice updo.  There is always a ton of volume to work with! Going 5 days without washing is crazy to some people, I live in the mountains with not a lot of humidity. My hair doesn't get oily easily, so I am thankful for that!  If your curls are looking a little slick and shiny, I recommend using this powder by GOT2B called POWDER'ful Volumizing styling powder.  It cuts the grease and gives your hair a lot of texture. tip: a little goes a long way! beware!

I hope this helps!!

My hair is past waist length so it doesn't take a 'wet set' in the usual way. But I do find that it will hold a curl longer if I loosley twist it together at the end of the day and sleep with it in a sleep cap. With the weight of it though I can't keep it going for more than 3 days.
I am interested to hear any other tips you ladies have!

I can't get my damp sets to last more than 2 days, even with dry shampoo and setting lotion. And it's usually the sleeping part that I can't manage to get right!

I use L'OREAL's Ever Sleek Leave-in Creme. The scent is great. I recommend it.

I have very curly frizzy hair, so my wet set has taken a lot of practice! Secret tip came from a video of Cindy Crawford prepping for a shoot, she used a hair dryer bonnet to set her curls. I picked up one from gold n hot at a beauty superstore. I let my wet set get about 60% dry and then sit under the bonnet for five or ten mins until it's 90% dry, let the remainder air dry, remove rollers, and style, polishing with a good curl creme (I like garnier). The set lasts about four to five days. I don't do anything special to sleep except place my hair up and away from me on the pillow. In the shower I twist the length up and let the steam inside the shower cap reactivate the product, then I finger style back into place and am good to go. The last two days sometimes require a curling iron on a piece or two near the neck, which seems to loose curl first for me. Don't know if the use of heat disqualifies "wet set" but it's my go to routine. ;) I'm going to try the scarf sleeping trick. Thanks so much for the other feedback, awesome tips ladies!!!!! <3

Rachelle, thanks for the tip. I've been looking at a dryer bonnet but afraid of dropping money on something that may not work.
I'm also curious how some of you handle your sets with working out? Usually I *need* to wash my hair after a work out, but don't want to loose my set or blame my hair for nor working out . Tips?
