I have done acrylic and was not a fan of them.. Maybe it's my ocd but they girl put them on crooked and shaped them crooked to try to fix the crooked being put on.. hahaha is they a better kind of nails anyone preferes? And why do like that style.. Thanks!!

I've has an acrylic overlay since I was 17. The trick is finding someone good to put them on. It sounds like you had a bad nail tech, and should have found a better one. I like the overlay better then tips because it's my real nails with a layer of acrylic over it, so they tend to last longer. There are a ton of ways to do fake nails now a days, and in the past I've taken off my acrylics and tried them all! But I always go back because its's what works best for me.

No matter what though, make sure you go to a good place and find someone competent to do them. Because if the person doing them is no good, no matter what kind they they'll suck.

I love gel nail polish. It hardens on your nails to keep them from breaking so that you can grow out your natural nails. It's non-damaging to the nail bed and the polish looks great for up to 2 weeks. I usually have mine done in a french manicure style and they look even better than acrylic! At the end of the 2 weeks you just go back to the salon and they soak the polish off and redo the manicure.

My advice is to find a nail salon near you that you like and are comfortable in. Go in a few times and get a mani-pedi or even just a polish change, something simple. Look around at other peoples nails, ask questions, talk to the ladies that go there. If you see someone who's nails look good, ask them who did them. Unfortunately the best way to find someone is trial and error. It took me a few years, but I finally found someone who I love and trust completely. She does my nails, eye brow waxing, and even did my brow tattoos.
