Buy or Hand made?

Hi everyone,

I will like to know if you guys sew your clothes, make the accesories, or if you buy everything...

Is there someone who actually sew dresses by choice, or like me is absolutely impossible to buy them and have to sew them...

I have almost everything I wear custom made. I don't like wearing the same thing as 10 other girls at shows, so I try to buy as little as possible. I alter things I do buy, and make my own accessories or buy vintage or designer. I like my personal style, and so for me custom is the way to go.

I do a little of it all.  If I buy pre-made I usually have to alter it to fit properly and I like to add my own touches to make it mine.  I make accessories like hair flowers and costume jewelry. Old clip on earrings make great shoe and/or dress clips.   I do sew my own clothing when I have the time and devotion.  

Do you use vintage patterns?  I've found them a bit easier to work with to get the fit right.

Pre-made is great for odds and ends, but I truly enjoy making my own dresses. Everyday wear is more fun when you're wearing something custom! I have a few custom pieces that I made and love to wear because I KNOW no one else has it. 

Accessories, not so much. I can't seem to drag my lazy butt to my desk to do the little detail work, even though I know how to do it.I have always wanted to make my own hair flowers. Did a couple quick bits for xmas as gifts, but I really need to delve into the process from start to finish. Just seems like I never have the time to sit there and cut/starch/form the petals! LOL

I am starting to make more everyday wear for my closet ... now just need material to not be so damn expensive. Or at least have good material in alternative styles be more accessible. :)
