when did you realize you were a pinup girl?

i was 16 and was always making my clothes vintage style and i watched gypsy rose lee at 8 i fell in love with the vintage and pinup feel to it.

I guess in high school I thought I was pretty gothy, because I wore all black, but I had Bettie Paige's hairstyle and lived in liquid liner since 1992.  I've always felt comfortable in heels and corsets, too.  I hated my curves, but now I know why I have them, because I was meant for pinup!

I know exactly how you feel, with not where to begin or not feeling pretty enough. I was a tom boy growing up and didn't really start caring about my hair and make up until I was about 20. You are gorgeous and  once you start believing it, your pictures will show it :) Get a least one shoot, even if you have to pay for it, under your belt then try Model Mayhem for casting calls, here for casting calls or I'm also in groups on a site called Meetup.com. We do a lot of fun creative shoots for free, we usually just have to supply out own outfits but were all very good at sharing and take care of each other. I wish you luck in all your endevors and hope to be seeing you in magazines soon :)

Awww, well thank you.  I'm pretty creative with making up my own outfits, hair, make-up.  I usually do my own make-up.  Its just fun!

I can honestly say that I do not know that I would consider myself a pinup girl. I am a girl who loves an era and tries to live to the standards of women of that era. I would say I was born 2 generations to late more than anything. As a little girl I dressed as Alice in Wonderland (the cartton version) not because I was made too but because I loved dressing in lolita dresses. As I grew and became older I dressed as a teenager from the 40s or 50s might and now dress as a woman from then would. It is something that is me I do not consider it a realization of being a pinup girl. There is no realization for something you always have been it just is what it is.

I love the 20's flapper look (Clara Bow), the silver screen stars of the 40's look, and the rockabilly 50's look.  I guess I have a fusion of many looks with a slight gothic flavor left over from the 90's, haha!

I never thought about it until I started modeling. I would do the regular "glamour" type shoots and then when I would show people the pictures or post them online people would comment on what a great RETRO photoshoot I did! I guess I've always looked and dressed like a pinup I just never thought about it. My Grandmother was very old school hollywood beautiful (she still draws on her eyebrows to this day!), she was very fashion forward, and is often compared to Katharine Hepburn and Judy Garland. My Mother would always wear my Grandma's vintage clothes and had a love for all things old timey (we listened to a lot of old time radio when I was a kid). Then in turn I would wear my Grandma's and my Mom's vintage clothing, and I fell in love with retro music, radio shows, television, and movies.

Long story short...I was definitely born in the wrong era. ;)

I am not exactly a youngster. But I guess that things just evolve over time. During the past year or so I have quite a few people tell me how I looked like various glamour gals of the past. I always liked classic clothes. And I have always had a taste for things with a classic flavor. But I finally realized that my inner pin up diva was expressing itself in a very outward manner.

I realized that I wanted to try it out as I was preparing for my wedding. I have never been very girly in my everyday life--I would wear the same hoodie and jeans every day if I thought I could get away with it--but when shopping for a wedding dress, I discovered how well my curves, which I've always hated, fit into the vintage hourglass silhouette. I learned to love makeup and drew inspiration from my grandmother's old pictures of herself and the girls at Utah State in the 1940s. A beauty queen with a Master's degree is definitely worth imitating!

I didn't realize. I made a choice. I am on a journey to lose 30 pounds and I knew I needed to stay motivated for a long time. So I decided that for every 5 pounds lost, I would reward myself with a pinup dress. I took a pinup class with Bettina May at the beginning to learn hair and makeup. I searched the web for inspirational pinup photos. I started meeting pinup models. When I reach my weight goal, I'm going to have a professional photo shoot with Roy Varga who travels around the country. I'm a pinup in training and learning to love the lifestyle!
