i was 16 and was always making my clothes vintage style and i watched gypsy rose lee at 8 i fell in love with the vintage and pinup feel to it.

I was 4 or 5 the first time I saw a Frankie and Annette movie and I fell in love with vintage, then it was Gentlemen Prefer Blonds and I was hooked! It never occurred to me until I was 18 and even then I never thought I would model. But I had always been a big fan of classic films thanks to my Aunt, who had me watch them with her. I loved all the glamorous actresses, but I was always a tomboy and pretty hurt at that lol. It wasn't until I was 18 and trying out retro hairstyles because I was bored that I got into the lifestyle and I learned i could still be a rough and tumble tomboy in a dress (I never really wore them until now).

Well, I'm not really one...yet!  Ha!  I did some fun pin up photos in March of this year and after seeing how well they turned out and that it's ok to be a little curvy, I realized that I really enjoy this style of life and photography! 

I wish that I could make a career out of it one day...

 Gentle prefer Blondes was my favorite movie as a child, not just for Marilyn Monroe, but for Jane Russell, who became my idol as a young adult. I always loved dressing up and to this day I live by the "it never hurts to be overdressed" motto. There is not a special occasion I don't use to by a new dress or get dolled up. I think it has helped me value myself and others more.

It´s about an year ago...i normally grewn up in the gothic scene...always worn black but now it bores me so much :-( But i´m more a fan than a real pin up girl but working on it to be... trying to get a photoshooting...i hope i can make it :-)

I'm not one, yet. I've only posed for my mum, who likes mucking about with her camera as a hobby. She is an artiste with pin curls, and is trying to teach me. I've got a friend who has done one or two BDSM shoots, but only for S's & G's. If you're going to do it, DO it- not just as a joke. I just have no idea where to begin, and I've never felt pretty enough.

I'm most enthralled with silent films and 1930's film noir, although I do love the look of the 40's. Not so keen on the 1950's unless it's Rockabilly.

Always i guess, but it was only recently i "came out" so to speak.

My mum made costume for theater companies and i grown up watching black and white films and loved the look of 40s and 50s hollywood.

I remember going to an air show when i was 11 and see people walking around in war time dress and felt like should live in that world.

Id always loved the idea of wearing vintage and loved listening to old time music but i suppose like most girls i just wanted to fit in so hid my secret love of the 40s and 50s untill about a year ago when i started playing roller derby.

I think alot of it falls within a similar scene, and meeting people who expressed themselves freely and wore and listened to what they wanted without being judged allowed me to open up my feeling for pin up.

Im not a typical pin up girl, i try and incorperate as much as possibel into my life , although sometimes this may only be having victory rolls in my hair i feel i am able to express my love through various aspects of my life.

I'm not a pin-up girl but I realized I actually had decent features and decent curves when I got my first job at a 17th century dinner theater at age 16. I grew up in a strict household and not allowed to wear make-up, nail polish or any kid of "revealing clothing" - (gawd forbid to attract the oposite sex ;-P). Once I started working at this place, I was obliged to wear make up, lipstick the whole bit, particularly because the place was dimly lit with only candles and washed out your features - so "a pin-up amount" of make up was a must. To top it off, we wore lacy peasant tops with long wool skirts and corsets that went below and around the bust over the blouse. Well you can imagine what a shock this whole world would be for a 16 year old country girl. All of a sudden, I felt like a fille de Roi (one of the kings girls), since that was our acting part in the show even though we were just waiting on tables. Men began giving me their phone numbers (the nice ones) and well... the ones that had too much too drink... was a whole other set of stories. I realized looking good had it's ups and downs too but could be turned off and on with the flick of a make-up bag. I have to say that I have the head hostess to thank for turning me on to make-up (and 17th century pin-up) but thank my mother for raising me to have other interests before this one. I see too many girls obsessed with their looks, paper thin in character, thinking they will make a career out of pin-up but they are empty inside. Confidence shouldn't depend entirely on how you look. How a pin-up carries her self, her own sense of style and character comes through past any amount of make-up. Pin-up can be used as a stepping stone at most but one mustn't forget to develop personality and interests outside of it or you may be headed for a crash landing. Similarly goes for men - ever see a really good looking guy and you realize it doesn't matter how good he looks after hearing him speak? ... But there you go, I realized I was a pin-up at 16!

   When I was 13 or so, I saw "Moulin Rouge!" (the 2001 version); not really pin-up per-say, but I was enthralled by the Can-can Victorian/Edwardian style (still am).  From then on I became a huge fan of burlesque, and wrote my own play/film inspired by "Moulin Rouge!" crossed with "Cinderella." I'm even having the dress of my story's heroine made for me, though it will take some time and about $300 to even have it in my possession. I began to have a lot of appreciation and respect for models like Bettie Page and the girls of the classic vintage pinups, and even started making my own calendars using the photos. I also recently got hooked on the Steampunk genre, both fashion and literature. I'm 24 now, and my love of all this stuff is still going strong!
