Anyone else gotten the boot from Facebook due to a photo???

I did and boy did I see red! First off, someone on my friends list did it because this was my personal site and it's limited to friends. I wrote a fast and furious letter to FB. They then reopened my account and showed me the "offensive" material that was removed. It was a pose I did with another woman and while it's sexy, it's also tastefully playful. I have similar poses with a man and no reports have been made on those. Ok, fine. Some jerk got off by ticking me off. The NEXT day I got a 2nd warning for apparently posting something offensive. I guess telling someone that if they don't want to see it, they should delete themselves instead of being a homophobic ass! I have my other site set to 18+ so if your kid is looking at that site, that's not MY problem! ARGH!!! I hate having to sensor myself.

I hear ya on that one. I've only had them pull images off with a warning I guess...It was just informing me that they were offensive. I am careful about what I post on FB & here for that matter. Different Strokes!

I've had images removed. But that's about it. I haven't gotten so much as a warning before though...

I had a profile removed from FB years ago and I was never told why or what for. I emailed them several times to ask, no response. I'd be careful what I post there though both in the way of photos and status updates.

I've chosen to delete everyone from my Facebook profile except for family/close friends (I have 12 friends now!) and just use my modelling page.
I don't like the website, I find it a very negative and petty environment but unfortunately the page thing is a great way to network and get your face out their, so I can't delete it :(

  That's strange because I have a "punk rock schoolgirl" photo shoot that I did in a classroom that's still up. The costume was short and showed a considerable amount of cleavage, and it never got warned or taken down or anything, and the whole thing could easily be seen as "offensive."

Personally I feel very strongly about anti-censorship, and I think the people who execute it are assuming their opinions are everyone's; making hasty generalizations does not give individuals the right to control what others do in their personal lives, or what they choose to share. I say the censorers should use their common sense and just not look/watch/read what they find offensive but let others decide for themselves. F*** the politics and employ a little logic for the 1st Amendment! Long live anarchy and free thinking! :)

I deleted my facebook over a year ago cause I was tired of censoring myself as well. I was always very careful of what I posted due to crazy stories, such as this, that I heard.

 

I found this very interesting, and I'll share it with you all as well...

 

My current employer was 'facebook checking' me prior to hiring me.  I didn't know this until a month after I was hired, but I found it to be quite offensive!  They went on to telling me they didn't hire several people due to how they 'market themselves' to the public. It's none of his business what I do in my spare time!  If I want to make it his business, I will. For Example...

They did not hire a girl who solicited their business to do all their marketing due to her facebook status updates that went on about how she missed her boyfriend and such.  The owner didn't like how she was marketing herself to the public. I think this is ridiculous!

YES.  I have had many photos removed.  Facebook's old policy was to allow anyone to report ANY photo, and they would remove it, no questions asked, no review.  I had images of ladies in my designs, including pasties, that were removed.  I am not a rule breaker, I DID review the policies, and pasties do NOT violate Facebook policies, but the images were removed nonetheless.  HOWEVER, where I drew the line and got REALLY pissed is when they removed an image of my cat.  It was one of the last photos before he unexpectedly passed away; he was peacefully sitting by a fence, being cute.  Someone reported it, so facebook deleted it.  And that one was on my PERSONAL page!  :(  They also deleted an image of a children's dress on another page, it was laid flat, not even ON a model, nothing wrong with it.  But it was reported and deleted.  I am so sick of that.  I have been banned several times, even though I have never uploaded an image of anything that violates their policy.  I think their policies have changed recently, because I received a notice last time saying my image had been reported, and I could choose to remove it or leave it, but if I left it and they found out it violates policy, I'd be banned again.  Booo, facebook, booooooo.  Ok I'm finished, and I'm sorry for yelling, LOL!

I get them all the time. I'm always a day away from a 1 month ban. I think with the new setup fewer people are seeing my photos, though.

Yeppa, and it happens all the time. I'm surprised you got ANY response from Facebook. It's usually completely automated and they refuse to even tell you why.

I got this from Facebook recently, when I posted it on my page, they added in non-printing characters into the link address so people couldn't see the image. 

Anyone can report anything they want anonymously, there is not check and balance system. If you don;t like someone you can get them kicked off Facebook period. 

Sandy Puc, a Family & Baby Photographer, Canon Explorer of Light, and PPA Trainer got her Facebook site removed. She set 3 of her staff on the problem and almost a week later gave up because there was NOBODY to talk to about it. 

When my page was taken down it was just marked "suspended", I would ask why, and hear back a WEEK later that it was because of a rules violation. What rule? They wouldn't tell me. after 3 weeks, they finally said it was gone and I can't have it back. NEVER an explanation of why, Just a "Rule Violation" and I should read them to find out which one. 
Because I also lost all me messages, I lost contact with 6 people I had setup shoots with.  

I have always thought the best defense is a good offence, I have been telling everyone we need to find the Facebook pages of the developers and get everyone to report them and let their automated system kick them off their site.  :)

I've sent the following to the Facebook suggestions and feedback for their privacy policies. If you agree then feel free to copy and paste the following as a suggestion of your own. Here's what I wrote:

 

I'm an adult. I work and associate with A LOT of other adults on this site. We all agree that Facebook doesn't allow us to act like adults on this site, but instead tries to keep the site overly sanitized because there's also people under the age of 18 on the site.

 

Unfortunately, because there's lots of members of Facebook who are under the age of 18, Facebook seems to think that we ALL need to be treated like we're ALL under the ages of 18, and therefore we can't post what you've entitled as "inappropriate material". How about letting the adults make the choice about what's inappropriate and what's not by putting a profile ratings system in place along the same lines as the movie ratings currently used here in America: G through R.

 

People under the age of 18 are automatically blocked from profiles with an R rating. People under 16 or 17 are automatically blocked from profiles with a PG rating, and so on and so on.

 

On top of that you can allow ADULTS to filter whose profiles they can view by the rating they possess. If ADULTS don't want to see material of an R nature then they simply choose that rating to block and they'll not see those profiles.

 

Implementation: People set they're own profile ratings according to a set of guidelines. If they don't set their profile rating accordingly then their profile is automatically shut down upon being reported.

 

In the end, I'm really, really tired of Facebook treating me and my adult friends like we're children. It's time Facebook grows up.

yup. first piece of art work i ever uploaded got me booted in jan of this year. didnt bother with them again until late may / june..
