You may need to be a little more specific. Do you mean wardrobe, hair, make up, all of the above?

yes betty all of the above. :D

Make overs with little money are hard... you'll have to do small steps.

Clothes- Thrift stores are your friend. So are yard sales, flea markets and swap meets. Also, places like Walmart and Target can be good for basics. Check out these threads, http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/forum/topics/basic-1940s-wardrobe http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/forum/topics/1950s-basic-wardrobe http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/forum/topics/rockabilly-pin-up-girl,  and make a list of what you need, what you want, and what you are dreaming of. Start with the what you need list, you should notice that it is a lot of basics. Once you have those you can buy accessories (much cheaper then clothes). Remember, this look is heavy on accessories. When I first started I gave my self a monthly budget, $50 for thrift/vintage stores, $20 for accessories, and 1 new *something* that I really had to have. It didn't take long before I had a whole wardrobe. Your amounts don't have to be same, but if you just do a little at a time you'll be surprised how quickly your collection grows. Also, if you know someone who can make clothes, maybe you can trade them for something. Or, is there a school near you where they have a fashion design course? You might be able to work out a deal with someone there.

Hair- Find a beauty school in your area. You can get everything done there for very cheap. Take pictures of what you want, it's possible that you might get it done by the teacher as a lesson. For things like color and cut, those are the things they learn first, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Make up- Go to Nordstrom or Macys and get your make up done at a counter for free. Ask for color samples. Then go to CVS or Walgreens and try to match what the lady did. If you wait and go at the right time, you can catch a good sale. Also, watch your mail for coupons. But remember, with most make up, you get what you pay for. Cheap shadows won't always have good pigment, cheap foundations won't always go on smooth or cover well, and cheap lipstick may bleed. There are a TON of great make up threads in here, but here are a couple to get you started. http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/forum/topics/drugstore-foundations http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/forum/topics/drug-store-beauty

Hope this helps a bit!
