Hi all!

I'm trying to find a new hobby and have been contemplating on modeling, but not sure how about going to it. What makes a Pin Up Model? What tools do I need?

Or should I find something else to do?

Spend some time reading this forum. There is so much information here you will be able to find everything you need. And don't ever think you can't do something until you try it!

Good luck!

There are lots of modeling tips on this forum. But the basic is clothes pose and expression. I would suggest studying pinup artwork, practice the poses and expressions you see in a mirror. And like Roxy said just check out the different forum tompics about it. :)

I was somewhat turned off at some of the word choices you made.  I think it may be because I have never ever set out to look for a hobby.  Hobbies come to me at a fast an furious pace, all wanting my attention, and all filled with wonderful possibilities of time consuming projects.  I have to sift through them and decide which ones  will best add to my life.  So, when your words indicated that you weren't terribly passionate about the prospects, I didn't know what to say.

Then I saw your pictures.  You really do know what you are doing.

So, modeling is fun.  Some people can do very well and become a popular subject on the hobbiest circuit who aren't the traditional model-y type.  Passion, skill, polish-- those are all very useful in the model for fun category.

What do you need?  You need to sparkle on camera.  You need to be able to make people feel something, just by looking at you.  People need to want to go back, and back to your pictures.

Makeup is good, clothes are nice, but it is all about the emotion created when you step in front of that camera.

Most of my natural hobbies consist of what I am doing for a living -- I build and style as well as put wigs on people as well as make them up. Sometimes I wonder what it is like on the other end... And I am hoping that maybe this exploration of this new ground will give me that "sparkle", I haven't had in a long time.

Thank you for your words I will seriously put this all into consideration!

Pose & expression is key to a beautiful pin up! If you want to become a big name, you should research famous (past & present) pins up too! I highly recommend watching some old movies, just to get an essence of where the idea of pin up originated from as well :)
