I WORKED FOR MAC COSMETICS FOR TWO YEARS AND BEFORE THAT WAS A HUGE FAN FOR TWO YEARS. IN THE TWO YEARS I WORKED THERE I WAS COVERED IN THEIR COSMETICS/SKINCARE 6-7 DAYS A WEEK. I NEVER BROKE OUT AND NOR DID ANY OF THE GIRLS I WORKED WITH, BUT...MOST OF THE GIRLS THAT WOULD COME TO THE COUNTER COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PRODUCT WOULD COME WITH THE PRODUCT AND THERE SPONGE WAS PRACTICALLY GREEN! A FAMOUS PRODUCT THAT EVERYONE ALWAYS GETS IS THE STUDIO FIX...THOSE SPONGES SHOULD BE CHANGED OUT ONCE A WEEK. THEY ARE HOLDING ONTO ALL OF THE BACTERIA THAT SITS ON TOP OF YOUR SKIN SO, IF YOUR USING THAT THING UNTIL YOU RUN OUT OF YOUR STUDIO FIX WHICH IS FROM 3 MONTHS UP TO 8 (DEPENDING HOW MUCH YOU USE IT) THEN YOUR ADDING BACTERIA NOT ONLY ONTO THE SPONGE BUT, OUR ALSO LEAVING BACTERIA ON TOP OF THE POWDER FOUNDATION. THE BEST THING TO DO TO PREVENT THIS AND THIS IS WITH ANY POWDER PRODUCT FROM ANY COSMETIC LINE NOT ONLY MAC. YOU SHOULD BE USING A BRUSH TO SWIPE IT ON, IF YOUR REALLY INTO THE SPONGE USE IT UNTIL ITS NOT WHITE ANYMORE AND THEN THROW IT OUT. YOU CAN BUY A BIGBAG OF SPONGES FROM THE DOLLAR STORE AND THERES ABOUT 30 IN THERE SO ONE FOR EVERYDAY OF THE MONTH AND ITS ONLY A DOLLAR! ANOTHER THING IS THERE IS SUCH A THING AS PEOPLE BEING ALLERGIC TO SPF...AND THE REACTION WILL BE A BREAK OUT. ALSO SOME PEOPLE ARE ALLERGIC TO TITANIUM DIOXIDE WHICH IS A KEY INGREDIENT USED IN FOUNDATION. ANOTHER GOOD THING TO DO BEFORE GOING INTO YOUR POWDER (EVEN EYE SHADOWS) IS TO WIPE THE TOP PART OUT WITH A TISSUE TO TAKE OUT ANY BACTERIA SITTING ON THE TOP LAYER.

i agree. i don't get breakouts when i use a brush with it. and you aren't supposed to reapply it 80 times a day on top of oil either!
Good advice!
Excellent advice! I use MAC all the time! I love it, and have never had a break out as a result of me using any MAC products. If anything, my skin seems to be looking better since I've started investing money into better products I put on my face!
very true gurly! alot of people want to reapply studio fix powder...what some people dont under stand is...that this is a powder foundation! it is to be applied once and put away, then WHEN you need to retouch your suppose to use the sheer powder or for more oily skin you can use blot powder. blot powder is a translucent powder which has no color or talc so it will not build and get heavy. it simply takes away shine. the sheer powders add some color to touch up and takes away shine.both work great, but depending on your preference and how your skin gets during the day, the decisions is yours. so once again...STUDIO FIX POWDER IS A FOUNDATION AND POWDER IN ONE FOR OILY SKIN YOU SHOULD NOT BE RETOUCHING WITH THIS PRODUCT...IT WILL BUILD AND GET VERY HEAVY AND HAVE THAT "CAKE LOOK."

Hey! I have a question for you about MAC. I have really light skin and a friend of mine told me that the foundation I use is way too thick and that I don't need a thick foundation. Does MAC have any light colored foundations that aren't heavy?
ooo nice insight!  I don't use sponges to apply foundation, but I never knew you had to replace them that frequently.
