Hi! So, Jonathan posted earlier about sending pin up pictures to the troops and I thought that was a really good idea. I was thinking that the madams could maybe figure out a way to get a care package together for the soldiers with the help of PL members. So, the first thing I wanted to ask is who would be interested in participating and maybe sending some prints in to be put in the package? I was thinking it could have pics and some other good stuff for them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I am strictly in "brainstorming mode", so feel free to give me any suggestions you may have. Eventually, I hope to have an address where we can send all of our things so that they can be collected and then sent off to the troops.

What those boys really need over there is not what most expect. They are always looking for current issues of their magazines, new moves, new books, and especially new music. A lot of the stuff we use to send out in mass supplies is annoying now. tooth paste, brushes, that kinda thing can be found anywhere now, or so they've said. one of the girls mentioned koolaid and what not, thats another thing and one of my girlfriends would send over her home made cookies to a sailor friend air locked and sealed, i laughed when she first told me this but he e-mailed her a week or so later saying that they made it there in one piece and still fresh. best of all he loved them, lol but just stuff like that i guess. after filling hundreds of packages one bit of advice that seems to be a trend is that everything can last long periods of travel.
I'm an official Pinup Angel and this is what we do and have lots of experience doing. We started and are based out of the West Coast but are starting to grow on the East Coast. I'm part of the East Coast chapter. We just had a care package run and we sent 25 packages complete with mags, random necessities, lotsa autographed pinup prints from alot of us, and of course baked goods! Our founding mothers have lotsa experience and could probably help this cause out alot as well!
It's so wonderful to see more people care about our military. It's amazing how much it really does help to get a care package.

Anyway, whoever decides to organize this can feel free to ask for advice. Just send a message to our myspace!
Also if you have addresses to someone that needs a care package and you would love for them to get one from our lovely group let us know that as well. And don't forget to send your name so the receiver of the package can know who should be thanked :P

Lets send some homemade cookies too.
Thats a great idea!! I just seen another friend off to the SandBox a month ago!! I've done a few care packages already but always willing to do lots more!!!
Im definitely willing to help out with this.. I odubt anyone wants my picture.. but I'll definitely help with other goodies to send!
Quite a few of us in here are military spouses and definitely are care package veterans so if anyone needs help brainstorming what else to put in there aside from pictures don't be shy about asking questions. There are certain regulations regarding care packages and some guidelines are dependent on the area the package is being sent to. And don't forget the ladies who are serving either.

Marissa, did he give you an APO or FPO address? If he gave you that, it doesn't matter where he is, the package will still get to him.
those dryer sheets are great to keep that desert sand smell out of their belongings too in their sea bags. whew that mess stinks too!

This is a GREAT idea!! Being that my hubby is a US Marine getting ready to deploy.....AGAIN, I know he'd appreciate it. I would send packages to him at least twice a month the last two times he deployed. I know that BOUNCE DRYER SHEETS are SUPER handy for them. The put them in their boots to keep the FUNK away, especially when they don't get to shower for like a week...or even more! Baby Wipes are ALWAYS good, Dr. Scholl foot inserts...i've kept my lists over the years of things that he's requested so I know what to send this time around.

Also, I know that any pics sent out should be done tastefully. They aren't supposed to have any kind of porn (even just showing a little boob) some of the Armed Forces get repremanded for it, but you know boys, they'll find some way of sneaking some type of PORN in LoL.

Dryer sheets (especially with febreeze) stuck into their BOOTS at night! Makes a world of difference!
I need to do that from now on...all i know is those thick black boot socks stink to high heaven and everything around it winds up smelling like sock funk.

I would be happy to donate some Art..keep me posted...D.Mac
It seems that most of you ladies know already, but just a lil FYI: I got a message from a friend in Baghdad and he just wanted me to pass on that packages have to be addressed to a specific unit or soldier now. They will no longer accept packages that are random. He said that units can also be "adopted". He is going to be sending me a message with a list of wants/needs and units that can be adopted. I will keep you all posted!!
Hey! If someone would be so kind as to take the reins on this, it would be much appreciated. I have limited time at the moment, due to family issues (great uncle and grandmother both ill), so I don't have much extra time to get this organized. Sorry for the inconvenience.
