Bombshell Manual of Style, by Laren Stover. Awesome book for anyone who loves those old time bombshells, and wants to be one.

The Black Jewels Trilogy, by Anne Bishop. Great Fiction. I'm reading it now and I love it.
I, Elizabeth was really good.. I absolutely love the renaissance period and Queen Elizabeth I, so naturally when I saw it I had to pick it up. It was amazing from start to finish :)
Also, The Crimson Petal and the White was good. .
If you really want some all-girl-power book, read The Mists of Avalon. It's the story of King Arthur from a woman's perspective. Very empowering :)
The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. AMAZING books..there are 11 in the series! The first is called Wizards First Rule.

The story can get dark at times, but the story is amazing...and he has a great writing style. You'll be hooked.
I've read Water for Elephants too! Great book, I loved it =)
I would suggest anything by Virgina Woolf, especially Orlando (which is kind of fiction and kind of not... it's complicated lol).
Also Choke by Chuck Palahniuk if you're looking for something a little sick and twisted (or anything by him for that matter, I'm a little obsessed with him... author of Fight Club).
The Memory Keeper's Daughter is a great story but it's a little sad.
Oh Gawd I could go on forever. I read a huge pile of books this summer because I knew I wouldn't have time during school. Hooray for bookworms! Reading is sexy, damnit! ;)
my favorite book of all time - The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
look it up, it's the most amazing love story of all time.
2 couples who's lives intertwine during a European revolution.
it will make you look at life, love and relationships in a totally different way.
P.S. - DL...could you be any cuter?! Seriously!
i love chuck too!

Older classic: In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash a book of short stories by Jean Shepherd. You'll recognize some of them, as they were combined together into a little ol' movie called A Christmas Story. :)
Destined to be classic: The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini) and The Secret Life of Bees (Sue Monk Kidd) both of which were also, coincidentally, made into movies.

I also love just about anything by John Irving, Kinky Friedman, Bill Bryson, and Douglas Adams. I'm reading Profiles in Courage right now, and it is simultaneously uplifting (think of everything a single person can do!) and disheartening (think of how unscrupulous our leaders have been!).
ok, I know it's meant for "young adults" but with an adult mind it can be taken to a WHOLE other level.(and I am OBSESSED with vamps) but the twilight series is actually quite good and there are 4 books so you'll keep busy for a while.
"Geek Love" by Katherine Dunn
"Perfume" by Patrick Suskin (sp?{
for a good trashy read: "the other boleyn girl" by Phillippa gregeory (also, the whole wideacre series)
I'm reading "The monsters of Templeton" by Lauren Groff right now and am loving it.

the best thing that has ever happened to my voracious book appetite:
