Before picking the pin up lifestyle and the fashion and make up at best I could call my "look" eclectic comfortable. When I took the time to do my hair and make up I was told I was attractive. Now though, not only did the pin up lifestyle with all it entails feel like coming home, but now....

Everywhere I go I get the "looks" we all know the looks, dolls have been getting the same look from men since the dawn of time. I was out at dinner with my Twin brother and one guy ended up getting smacked in the arm by the doll he was with, my brother called it dinner and a show for him. Me, I was basically oblivious not being used to getting much more than a look or two. (My brother has a game he plays when we are out, he keeps a running total of the looks us dolls get when we are with him... he actually lost count that night). I started going out to the club again after over 3 years and it has been a tremendous boost to my previously battered self esteem.

So I'm interested in finding out how the pin up lifestyle has changed YOUR life! I want to find out what positive things it has done for YOU!

After having a baby in my thirties I felt old and unattractive.  Being a Mom is so demanding it seemed impossible to "feel" pretty again. I had always had a Pin up flair but was really a Punk rock kid. I looked silly as a full fledged adult dressed like a teenager  That's when I jumped on the Retro Bus with both feet and HELD on!  Now I don't leave the house with out a hair flower or a pretty scarf. My daughter and I get complements on the hair flowers i make for us. I am having a blast being a slightly Trampy Donna Reed.  Pin up style made me feel young again when I most needed it.  Moms work hard they deserve to feel pretty.
Amen to that! I have an 18 year  old daughter and her assorted friends who adopted me as mom and I have a 2 1/2 year old to try and keep up with. I find that after taking the time to get dolled up it helps to energize me. I'm looking good and for the first time since I was a teen, feeling good about how I look!
Diira & Amy, I'm glad for both your comments.  I'm in my mid-40s, have gone from a size 10 to a size 2/0, and have always felt like an ugly duckling.  (I was labeled the "smart one" in my family, not the "pretty one"--my younger sister.  So I never bothered to make much of an effort with my appearance.  Instead I focused on my grades, career, etc.)  Getting into this pinup forum is my way of dealing with that.  Eventually I want to do some photos but I'm not there yet.  I need to work out, get the legs in shape, try some new makeup looks, etc.  It seems like a lot of the women in PL are young/younger and take being pretty (and young) for granted.  I envy that.  I'm not a hag, but I know how you feel Diira about it being cool to be able to go from "attractive" to "wow".  I am scared of having photos taken, particularly head shots.  I'll figure it out, but it's a process.
As I'm quickly approaching 39 I can understand what you mean. I'm a "lonely only" but was always focused on my grades because I could never seem to get a guy in school. Yet my friends were always going through the guys like they were tissues. I was beyond excruciatingly shy in school. Then I spent 19 years  in a marriage where whenever I got dressed up the best compliment was, "that looks nice" NICE? I'm not going for nice here I'm looking for a jaw drop reaction.. I have an 18 year old daughter and am still trying to get rid of the baby weight from my 2 1/2 year old. Plus being in a very nasty custody case with her father. (I found out after we had our daughter but before we got married that he was a convicted pedophile) Anyway I was at my lowest point in my life when I found this style. getting those wow! reactions has really helped me get to a positive place in my life, well that and the fun I'm having working with my existing wardrobe and second hand store shopping and really the people I'm meeting here on pinup lifestyle. When you finally find where you belong its amazing. You do go from "attractive" to WOW! just like that. I'm also interested in photos but I don't know how to start out with it yet... something for me to learn about, but from what I've noticed you don't Have to do this or that with your body, only if you want to before starting photos. so don't do it if you think you Have to just do it if you want to!
