I saw this on a board on another vintage based forum and thought "Hmmm...that would be damn handy!" but then I don't think any exist...?

What would you guys think about a rockabilly/vintage dating site? I think the guys to girls ratio would be very unbalanced, but you never know! Or do you think the whole dating site thing is daft and people should just get out there and meet people in person? (Personally I find that option terrifying, hence why I've been single for nearly three years! And that's just with regular guys let alone rare rockabilly guys!)

I don't know anything about "rockabilly" guys (can you describe?), but in general I'm big on taking a chance, checking stuff out and seeing what happens, so go for it.  Dating can be hard for anybody.  I'm trying to find the right niche of people I fit with in general (artsy creative types) and an hoping to find a creative adventurous guyI can get along with.  You have to keep a sense of humor when it comes to dating, either online or in person.  It definitely makes for great stories for sharing with friends.

there is still one such site in existence, rockabillydate.com

Not sure what else may already be out there since I am so far away from wanting to or being able to date, it isn't even funny. ;) Search around and see what is out there, and build something bigger and better than the rest. something without alot of bugs.  If you build it, they will come. Good luck!

Ooh I shall look at the rockabillydate website. I'm not personally looking to find someone on them just yet (I'm only 19 aha!) but it's good to see there is one out there to cater for me if I do want to use it!
Rockabilly guys have the slicked back hair - usually a short back and sides quiff with pomade - turned up cuffs on their jeans, shirts or black tshirts. Generally they look a bit Elvis or a bit Danny Zuko from Grease. Modern rockabilly's usually have a bit  of ink on them too, sleeves are particularly popular =)

Internet dating is ridiculous!! You can pretend to be someone else online sooo easily, you never quite know what you'll be getting into....

you're a beautiful woman! just go to shows and meet ups, and I'm positive someone will be interested in talking with you, and maybe sparking a relationship. If no one approaches you, REMEMBER Confidence is a huge turn on for men, so walk right up to someone and introduce yourself!what do you have to lose???

you'll do fine

Oh I misread. thought you were thinking about creating such a site. My bad.

I think if you want to start a site it's a fun idea. It would allow people to meet online and take it a step further then when they meet here. Then if they are in the same area they could make plans to really meet at shows. It's almost like a traditional dating site mixed with and events and adventures dating group. And you know right off the bat you have something in common with the other person. The only problem might be since the scene is so small, finding people near you that are single and on the site looking to date might be hard. But it still sounds like fun. I can think of a few guys and girls who might check it out.

One thing though, please be sure to keep it separate from PL. Our first rule is "this is not a dating site", and don't want anyone to get the idea that it is. http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/page/site-policies

Good luck!

I think it would be fun but very difficult and lots of hardwork to run one! There is one for vintage enthusiasts but it only has 18 members and the most of them are women, aha! I think, for now, the scene is too small to do anything with it, but it's an idea for the future maybe...

Personally I'm with you. I think it would be fab and I'm not big on being able to get out and meet people way too shy... but a site would be great!

Tell me about it...being Retro and dating is really hard to do in my area - and when you throw my looks into the equation people can't seem to put the two together. As far as internet dating goes, I've been at it for awhile and it's been a real mess. I think women read my profile and are turned off by my love of old stuff.
