The fashion industry is finally realizing that plus-sized women are not the minority. Many mainstream designers are adding plus sizes to their collections. Isaac Mizrahi is my hero for not only designing affordable clothing available at my favorite store Target, but for including big girls in those designs! Let's not forget the companies who cater only to plus-size. Long gone are the floral muu-muus and stretch pants with elastic waistbands. These clothes are actually stylish and trendy.

www.torrid.com is an offshoot of Hot Topic which has goth and rockabilly clothes, as well as some work-appropriate items. They also have a large selection of well-known labels, like Betsey Johnson, Dickies, Z. Cavaricci.

www.lanebryant.com has great business-wear for the 9 to 5 gal like me.

www.babygirlboutique.com has recently added plus-sizes for the plesantly plump pinup girls.

www.alight.com sizes 14-30. They have really cute plaid halter tops and cuffed jeans. Prices are middle of the road; about $50 for jeans and $30 for a shirt.

www.alwaysforme.com has cute swimwear and lingeries in sizes 16-26. They have a cool feature where you can shop by your body type to solve your body "issues" - bust enhancers, C-cup and up, hip minimizer, waist minimizer. Reasonably priced. Average price about $40.00

www.cjbanks.com for sizes 14 and more has casual & work clothes at a middle of the road price. Dresses run from $39.50 to $69.50. They have a cute Marilyn style sweaterdress.

www.igigi.com for 12-32 has pretty cute stuff, but they are a little pricey. A plain tank top is $32.00 and their dresses are in the $80 range. But their items are pretty stylish and not frumpy.
Photobucket
www.macys.com has a plus-size section where you can get all your favorite name brands, like Calvin Klein, Levi's, Lauren by Ralph Lauren, MICHAEL Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Ed Hardy. With the prices you would expect from Macy's.

www.oldnavy.com, sizes 16-30 Old Navy recently got flak for pulling their plus sizes out of their stores and only selling it online. My friend said she was boycotting Old Navy for this reason, but I personally couldn't resist visiting their site and dropping some dough on a CUTE halter swimsuit for $29.50 and some slacks for work. Very reasonably priced!

Thanks for sharing this! even when I was a size 8, I had a plus sized top! NOTHING would fit my tata's! I started shopping at Torrid A LOT!

Thanks again! Good info :)
Very cool, makes me want to go shopping!
I love Torrid, they have the best jeans. I love that if I buy them there I don't have to worry about my crack showing, LOL. Depending on your size though, the tops can run a bit big. It sucks to be too big for Hot Topic, and too small for Torrid. But like most stores, some things fit, some don't. Fun thing about being a bigger girl, we get to shop more, and get creative!

One thing though, Betsy Johnson at Torrid.... doubtful. She doesn't make bigger then a size 10, although a Betsy size large will normally fit up to a 14 (I own a ton of her stuff, even if you don't think it will fit, try!) And she sells at her boutique and high end stores, not places like Torid. You can get her accessories there, but not her clothes.
you can custom order some killer duds from this gal www.onthetrashyside.com I'm picking up 3 outfits from her this weekend at Billetproof!!!
I also came across this site.
www.starletsandharlets.com
It has actual plus sizes 18-28 in some super cute prices...good sale going on now too!
Hello My clothing label "Miss H****" does go up to a 3xl. We can also do some items custom made to measurements. you can see all the items at www.misshusssy.bigcartel.com if you click on the size option of each item you will be able to see if we have your size in stock. Also you can message me anytime if you have any questions xoxoxox

I'm adding a couple more.

Ebay user bunny*ville:  http://shop.ebay.com/bunny*ville/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_fro...

She makes custom corsets to your measurements.  If you want straps, she'll add straps.  I just ordered this bad boy (with halter straps):

Only $35!  She also has high-waisted shorts and capris.  She also makes non-plumpie sizes, but she doesn't charge extra for plumpie sizes, which I think is fantastic!

Etsy user dismantledfashions:  http://www.etsy.com/people/dismantledfashions?ref=ls_profile

She makes cute hair wraps, dresses, boleros, and pencil skirts.  Also custom made, and also in non-plumpie sizes.  I've got my eye on this bolero:

$29.95 for boleros, $59.95 for dresses.  Pretty damn affordable, if you ask me!

My favorites:

although ASOS.com has the BEST prices! (Check out the curve category)
