Jane Lane from "Daria " goes retro

I was watching "Daria" on DVD and came across an episode I had to share with y'all.  (You remember "Daria" right?  If not, it was a cartoon on MTV in the 90's and you should def buy the DVD's). 

Anyhoo, in the episode I was watching, Daria's friend Jane meets a cute boy named Nathan.

 

 

They bond over vintage erasers and inkwells.

As you can see, Nathan is a swingin' hep cat and Jane soon becomes immersed in the retro lifestyle.  She wears quite a few cute outfits, actually.

Unfortunately, Daria isn't too keen on the influence Jane's man is having on her:

They attempt a double-date with Daria and her boyfriend, but Jane's new boyfriend doesn't think they can "hang" with his crowd.

Alas, Jane & Nathan break up:

I love this show. I always could relate to Daria and Jane.... When I was younger I was definitely Daria...as I grew older the Jane side of me was revealed. I love this episode. It demonstrates how being a snob can make some thing very cool...very lame!  Embrace the non retro brethren. LOL

Amy, I was definitely Daria when I was a teen!  Cynical outcast, geeky girl who loved to write.  And yeah, snobbery just ruins everything.  "Nathan" would probably not have a big following on PL.  :)
