Maybe he thought he wouldn't be as identifiable if there was no record of what he looked like with his eyes open?

That's what I was thinking too.

 

I did see a guy the other day at Walgreens who looked exactly like Mr. Ellis. He was pretty darned good looking, except for that huge earring that looked like one of my great grandma's bathroom doorknobs. Ah well, he had pretty eyes.
