I have always watched the scene from the corner and have just now decided to jump in! I am starting from scratch and I need to know what I need to get started. I want to revamp my entire wardrobe!

I find great stuff on ebay.

You'll need - cardigans, clam diggers, high waisted pants/jeans/shorts, hair flowers, bandanas, swing and wiggle dresses, stockings, round or peep toe heels, garters, red lipstick, eyeliner skills, patience, and the ability to have fun. This list is by no means complete or written in stone, basically you'll need to learn what you like and what suits you/your body type best. That takes time but eventually you'll know what you want/need without even giving it a second thought.

 

Spanx/waist cinchers are optional, but can really make the outfit, think Doris Mayday in basically any outfit, holy hourglass. Spend some time creeping the candid shots of some of the ladies on here, you'll get some great inspiration.

 

eBay is a great place to start, but beware of knockoffs, the prices can't be beat and for good reason, they're cheap mass produced pieces of crap that have been stolen from real designers. There's a whole list of vendors under the Shop tab up there ^^

Ebay is great! Thrift stores and fabric stores are a must in my book! If you are at all artsy, you can make a lot of your own stuff! I'm learning how to make corsets!

See if you can't find a retro/vintage store around you. I've bought some of my best things there. Plus you can make friends with the owner/s and when they get in items they think would fit and suit your style they'll give you a call. ;D

Unfortunately the closest store is quite a ways away :( but I do looks in thrift stores etc and love some of the things I find!

I think you first need to decide what look you want to have. For example I perfer more vintage pin up outfits and the look. Others perfer Modern Retro or Rockabily. Def where things you feel good in and start with basics then slowly work your way up-before you know it you will have a whole collection of goodies. Good luck!! Sounds like a lot of fun!
