Tanned skin looks great on lots of ladies, but I am not one of them.  I wear sunscreen (SPF 77, broad spectrum) every day but I still have trouble retaining my winter complexion.  I'd love to cover up but my car is the only place in my life with air conditioning and I find neither sweat stains nor heat exhaustion very glamorous.  I'll put up with a little tan if I have to, but anyone have any tips on how to enjoy the summer, stay cool and maintain porcelain skin?

Parasoles are good! Sunscreen, and don't think you can't wear long sleeves when its warm. If its an extremeley thin, white fabric it won't be too hot. Usually. Also, BIG brimmed hats! =)
great tips. but I disagree with the long sleeved statement. if it's 115 degrees outside, longsleeves is the last thing anyone wants to wear.

I donno, I have a flowy peasant/ hippie top. Super thin. I used to wear it to the beack and it kept me from getting a sunburn and went fine over a suit. =)

That's how they do it in other countries (deserts.) My step dad is from africa, and they wear more clothes in the summer..

Parasols and big sun hats are my favorite ways to stay protected in the summer.

Long sleeves aren't so bad depending on what they are on. Halston Heritage has a great summer dress with 3/4 to elbow length sleeves. It comes in many colors, but white would most likely be the coolest.

Gotta love those Christian Louboutin's too.

3/4 length sleeves turned up in a lot of 50's summer dresses too, and they can be rolled up if it gets too hot

And if you wanna go with the ethnic meets high fashion look, another one from the SITC girls:

I still think it would be insane..

Millions of women in the desert have done it for thousands of years... there must be something to it. Seems crazy here in CA though, we wear tank tops if it gets over 70. LOL

It makes sense, though, as long as you find a breathable, moisture-wicking fabric and a style that isn't too clingy.  Gotta love that 3/4 dress you posted, Roxy Tart.  I wonder if those poor gals had sweat shields back then...
True, especially if it's super-thin, the sun is still going to get to your skin.  You're still going to have to wear sunscreen!
