"We Are The New Vintage"

As far as lipsticks, my favorite reds are MAC's Russian Red or Ruby Woo (you really need very little of either shade to cover and look great, which is part of why although MAC is more expensive, its worth it--it lasts forever and its very highly pigmented), or Revlon Colorstay's Matte shades Really Red or In The Red, with lipgloss on top to make it pop. Also with the lipstick, remember to 1)use lip primer and 2) line your lips first to prevent smudging or bleeding and give yourself a guide when you put the lipstick on. Also, I always use a lip brush to apply, it takes longer, but in the end, it looks better and you can be exact, especially if you want to make your lips look bigger in certain areas, etc. When I do gloss, I just put a little in the center of my lower and upper lip to make them look fuller.
Mindi, I know its hard when you are buying lipsticks and they don't look right and you're stuck with a shade you hate, keep in mind that you can blend (get a small paint knife at an arts/crafts store) shades together to find something more right for you as well and that way you haven't wasted your money-- If a shade is too orangey, you can tone it down, etc.
Make a visit to a makeup counter and have the MUA's try the shades on you there as well. That way you don't have to "buy to try"-- and usually they will give you a small amount to take home in a tiny tin/plastic vial to try for a day or two and live with it before you commit. :) Hope that helps! <3 Roz
I also have very pale skin and brown hair. It was sooo difficult to find reds! They all looked orangy on me! So I concur with the Russian Red from mac. It looks awesome and it lasts forever! I use their Cherry lip liner first, then put the Russian Red on. With such pale skin, I've been told to stick to colors with blue hues, otherwise they will look orange.
I recommend Chanel Rouge Coco Mademoiselle 05. It's paler but still lustrous. But my absolute favorite is Rouge Allure Lover 09. It's crazy dramatic. If you're going to wear lipstick go all out. There's nothing better than a well dressed woman who's not afraid of getting a little attention.
I really admire the design of Chanel lipstick. How the case is made of metal. The deep black lacquer finish. And how the cap clicks. One thing I miss is the little mirror they used to have in the inside of the cap. Now there's a hidden logo.
More importantly, I love how it feels when you kiss a girl with in on, it's smooth and thin. It doesn't taste like wax or parafin. And it smells like roses.

And pick a day to head to Macy's or Nordstrom. The ladies at the make up counters will be happy to help you find your prefect shade.
