I honestly haven't done dance since I was in elementary school, but I did ballet and jazz. What a mess! I also was a cheerleader which had a little bit of dance to it.

I don't do burlesque (yet) I did ballet and tap as a youngin' and did swing for a few years in HS. I need to find y rhythm and a rockin costume ... and then I'll come up with a number.

My Mom was a dance instructor (and a stripper, for minute, before I was born lol) and had her own studio when I was really little. I started dancing before I was two, and continued with tap, jazz, ballet, modern, and gymnastics until I was 15. Then I decided to rebel and quit - one of my few regrets. I'll never get back the skill and flexibility I had then. I also did some acting as a teen, which I think is really better preperation for burlesque than dance is. Anyhow, all of that was nearly 15 years before I started performing burlesque. I had always enjoyed burlesque, but then I saw the Suicide Girls touring show and (no offense) thought "I can do better than that!" For me, burlesque is all about the old-school variety show/vaudeville aspect. Yes, I dance & striptease, but I also sing some of my numbers and try to have some comedic element to most of them. I think burlesque is the greatest creative outlet ever (for me) because there are endless ways to express yourself: music, costume (making custom pasties for each number makes me happy), movement, facial expression, props... I have way more ideas than opportunities to perform them!
