who has the best rockabilly scene around?

Thats right, I said it who thinks they have the best scene. I mean from nor. cal to SO. CAL, L.A. to o.c., from the east, west coast, from america to europe, to japan. Out of the whole world who has the best scene? And I just don't want to hear we do and through out were your from but hows this say why, whats the hot spots wwere do you go. So in away this can help everyone out so when were on a trip and were near your place at least we know of some spots we can go to then. I am just saying. So whats your scene like?

Not quite sure as ive only experiance d where ive been. but my guess is southern california, LA area cause its close to vegas. but i could be wrong, someone got a better answer. i know ive never seen the enthusiasm for swing dancing like i did in winston salem NC where i used to swing with the piedmont swing dance society. but then again i havnt gotten to do so in the city, SF and i hear its thumpin there.

Okay since i asked the question i guess i should start it off. well am from LONG BEACH, l.a. county good o'l so. cal. well and I love the scene around there, may we have the Blue Cafe near pine st. we have vintage row on 4th street, were its bad ass u can get a cut, a shave and a beer at Hawleywood's barber shop. we have the queen marry that holds the ink & iron festival, and they have the vamp lounge also. and come on were in long beach and thats close to l.a. the derby, and the monday night tease at club of 3's and all the other events that go on. we have the anarchy bar thats on the bellflower downey boarder, the hully gully in downey, the rumble bar in paramount. man i think i am forgetting a few but come on there is so much to do. what else well yeah its great all around here in the so. cal, I mean I can talk about the stuff in o.c. also but i only know about a few things there, the juke joint, the doll hut, an the hootnanny is usually held around there. and there is always stuff goin on so its great. if i forgot anything please add.

well i did know of only one place in san fran when i was up at school it was kinda cool, but other then that it was not much that i found.

i forgot there is the lindy hop also in passadena on thuresdays nights and there are the cool dive bars that fit the cause.

In the US it is probably socal. I've heard Sweden and Finland have excellent scenes, also.

I have not been to Europe so speaking from my experience alone I would say biggest scene - So Cal, but best scene - San Francisco. The people up North are generally older, nicer, and know their s***... just my observation.

I have to say that Sydney, Australia has one of the best Rockabilly scenes I have seen throughout Australia (comparative to Perth and Brisbane). Ofcoarse there are those "scene kids" that try to steal or mimic the scene and get it all wrong but when you get down do it it's a very welcomed genre in todays society and is recognised and welcomed.

That's my opinion but I have not been so SoCal etc to compare. I may just have to ;p

badluckbetty speaks the gospel. san francisco is where it's at. so cal is too plastic to know authentic.
