So, I really need a hobby. Some people play sports, roller derby, skateboard, kick boxing, dancing, and so on. I wanna know what you ladies do? (That makes you get in shape and/or lose weight) I'm sick of being a couch potato I need to do SOMETHING! :)

Thank you! It's been a horribly slow recovery. I was hurt in January and have only been able to walk for just barely a month. I LOVE belly dancing and miss it. But for now I have to stick to a 10 minute exer-cycle rides and rehab type exercises for my foot/ankle. I have to say everyone here sure makes pole dancing sound interesting!

 

Oh my gosh..I took this in college and fell in love with it. And man does it work out your thighs! A few months ago I was searching for a belly dancing group to join and learn more belly dancing but life got soo busy. That form of dancing is soo beautiful. And I also love it because it's for any size woman (and men) The clothing is also very pretty I have 2 coin skirts (purple and black)

 

Oh yeah..sorry about your injury..I hope you have a speedy recovery hun!

I was talking to my boyfriend about this thread and what you ladies said and he said he'll buy me a pole and I can practice at home. Is there a pole brand or instructional DVDs you guys recommend?
I also do belly dancing, seriously fun form of excercise and been adding cardio. starting to get amazing abs from belly dancing and zumba as well as the eliptical trainer at the gym.

I love pole dancing! I was amazed at the moves my body was capable of doing haha. It makes me want to get into even better shape to push my abilities. I Hula Hoop when I watch TV as well. You can really feel it even in your back. I don't like running but I love how I feel after running, it makes the effort worth it.
Play tennis - 600 cals/hour.

<~~~~ not a lady but leaving a suggestion anyway, muay thai is very fun and very good for cardio and weight loss, we have females in our class at our mma gym who absolutely love it. and as i saw someone else mention earlier yoga, i absolutely LOVE yoga. i have practiced bikram (1 year) ashtanga & vinyasa (for roughly 3 years now) and am in love with it. both muay thai and yoga are a great way to kill time, relax, relieve stress and maintain a good weight. combine both and you'll see the benefits all around

I have a pole in my lounge so I can use it any day.  The trampoline and hoops are great too cos you can use them while you watch telly and you don't even feel like you're exercising!

I'm a pretty much retured club Dj, active photographer & retoucher but I seem to have lost touch with some of my previous hobbies like video editing, model rockets, remote control models. Never was the outdoor type!
