first time mom in rough environment and stubborn fiance.

Im 15 weeks pregnant(3 almost 4 months) and my boyfriend and I live with his parents because we can't afford to rent a house and he hates appartments. Well his parents have mice and roaches and I find it disgusting that they are ok living with them and they don't do anything to get rid of them. When I talk to him about leaving he says we can't afford it but we could if we rented an apartment. So is it bad that I just told him we(all three of us) need to be moved out by the time the baby comes and his answer is no were gonna seal off the room and animal proof it. So I tell him no if were not out of here by the time the baby come were(me and baby) are out of here because mice are gross and roaches are foal and cause harm to young ones and are just nasty. Was this mean of me to say because now I feel like the bad guy and the look on his face is I just ripped his heart out and fed it to the wolves.

Honey, I don't think you are being harsh. Your mother instints are clicking in which is a great thing. Roaches carry a lot of diseases such as Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Ecoli bacteria.  Mice can carry rabies and also carry fleas, worms, & mites. Which will hurt a lot as well. They have been known to carry Lyme Disease and Hanta virus as well.

I think you are doing whats best for the baby. Maybe if oyu talk to him about the negatives of how sick the baby can get from being around the roaches & mice it might help him figure out what needs to be done.

Roaches can also cause a lot of breathing problems so if anyone is living there with asthma or another breathing problems the lil critters are making it worst.

I hope you get it worked out sweetie.

*hugs*

I have to totally agree with Inga. You aren't being harsh at all.

Mouse urine/droppings can cause HPS...Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome. Humans get it by just breathing the infected urine/dropping particles in. Cockroaches aren't serious disease carriers, but no one likes have "tummy viruses". (You can check CDC for more info) But the mice is the main issue. Even if you barricade yourself and the baby in a room, they will get in.

You may want to bring up that some people won't rent to young couples unless they have a good rental history to begin with so renting an apartment will be a good thing.

I hope things work out for you. Good luck.

Honey you have to look out for you and your baby. Roaches and Mice are UNACCEPTABLE.  Please go file immediately for medicaid and WIC or whatever govt. assistance is available in your area and get yourself OUT of that situation. If your boyfirend really has a heart TO rip out, he will want what is best for you and your baby. Get yourself out of that situation and if he loves you and wants to be with you, he will come along and HELP support you. I am happily married with a husband who loves me and our baby dearly, but even he needs some constant reminding as to what is acceptable and expected of him as a new dad. If i waited around on him to do everything that needed to be done for our family, we'd be in some sad shape. Never feel like you are the bad guy just because you are looking out for the two most important people in your world.
I don't need to say what has already been said, but you're are DEFINITELY NOT wrong. You're absolutely right to want to get the hell out of a dirty, and unsafe, house!

You do what you have to do for you and your BABY!
I have to agree with all of the previous posters. Your baby is your priority and it sounds to me like you already know what you want/need to do. The next step is to take action. Good luck hon!

id say he will probably quickly realize that he doesnt want the mom of his soon to be child getting sick because of nasty ass ratts and roaches but I will say that posting this probably wont help your case LOL

best of luck

Inga thanks for the advice I told him all you said and he just said ewww. We are home shopping now

You welcome honey. Rememer that you are just getting protective and thats normal. Glad things worked out hon.

:)

Glad to see such a positive update!

Awesome to hear things are getting better! *cyberspacehighfiveandhug*

The only thing I will say is why wait until the baby comes move out now. with, or without him. You can get really sick and have major complications yourself being pregnant in that enviroment

yes we actually are movig ahead of schedule since he became a truck driver its awsome and were down the street from our both our best friends homes lol that was funny too
