If you want a more diverse crowd than just friends of the performers, these times might not work as well as a nighttime show.  Why do you want a "private show?" If it's going to be private, and the performers are just going to be inviting friends, it might work out ok.

Lots of questions that need to be answered to help you out.  I used to promote paid classes and parties for up to 400, so I immediately thought of a bunch of things.

How many butts in seats do you need to break even?  Can you shave some costs with volunteers?  Are these relatively new performers who will drag friends to see them?  If not, can you include a pre-show with a contest that will bring in this kind of crowd?  How cool is this place, is it cool enough to bring a panache of its own so people will come just be see it?  Can you have an after-party near by if it was on Saturday so people can continue to party?  Is it close enough to lots of things so people aren't driving a long way just for that?  Who is marketing and how good are they are pulling a crowd?  Do you have several people on your team that rock at social networking?  And some people who just seem to draw lots of people who want to be around them?  Can you get some businesses to sponsor blocks of seats for their employees or as some prize?  And finally, is there some other venue whose times might work better for you?

Dottie and The Trousseau... thanks for the response... all good questions...

May have misused the word "private."  I meant it would not be a free event or open necessarily to walk-in from the street.  Tickets would be sold in advance and would be under $15.  The location sits 150 persons max.  After the show (5pm) the venue opens up to the general public with no admission or cover charge.  All guests would be welcome to stay and continue the party.  The performers are not super well known but do have a small local (south cali) following.  Some of the normal bar flies could attend, but the owner doesn't expect his regulars to be interested in something that early in the day.  ...and yes, there is ALWAYS some other venue, but we really want to make this one work... perhaps its just the challenge that interests us.

Thank you also for the ideas to bring in a solid crowd.
