This kind of goes along with Miss Thalia's post below about pinup hairstyles for short hair (but I didn't want to hijack her post)...

I'm getting a much needed haircut tomorrow and I'm looking to change things up a bit.  My hair is currently about shoulder length, parted in the middle, with u-shaped "Bettie bangs".  I've always looked good with a short bob (about chin-length), but I'd like to get something a little more exciting than just a blunt bob.

I know the option to style with pin-curls or fingerwaves is there... but I'm curious if anyone knows of cute old-fashioned short haircuts (for very straight hair) that wouldn't necessarily require much in the way of styling.

Any ideas are appreciated!  :-)

Go with a short bob under ear and super short bangs ala - Carolyn Jones in King Creole - circa1958

Check this book out, it's the online version of 1940's hairstyles. It shows you the haircut patterns that were popular in that time, and the ways to style it. https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B5qXpaJqURobOTA1ZjM3OTItZTI1ZS...

OMG, I'm loving that book!  Thank you!!

I have the femme fatale middy, the guide is easy to follow and made my hair a lot lighter and gave it loads of body. Totally love it, plus it's FREE!

I know you said you didn't want just a blunt bob but I love the 20s style blunt bob - like Cathering Zeta Jones in Chicago. It can be left straight, or jazzed up with a scarf :)
