"We Are The New Vintage"
I'm a big gal and a pinup fan. There's alot of slim girls and a lot of "curvy" girls in the scene. But I sure wish there were more plus sized/full figured girls doing it, because I love seeing pinups with my build. Plus, full figured gals look great in corsets, etc.
Now, I've found a few BBW's on this very site, but are there more plus sized pinups out there? Is this a bigger deal than I know about?

Clothing companies will do what any other business does and follow the money. If it were cost-productive for them to make their designs in a certain size, they would. Part of following a successful business model is the branding that the company creates. That branding is their bread and butter-- to go outside of what the public expects from that branding can mean a severe blow to how the public sees it.
Making clothes in a size that is outside of the norm costs the company more than making clothes within the standard sizes. It isn't that they are over charging you, it is that it cost them more to make the clothes, so they charge more.
The best, and most cost productive way, to get a wardrobe that you like is to remember two things; less is more, and fit is everything. I used to have tons of clothes-- I love clothes. But honestly, I kept going back to the basics that I love. Those things that fit well and are timeless-- so I dumped everything when I moved. Now the things I have are all very wearable because they fit and because they are made well. Disposable clothing manufacturers help make us think we need lots and lots of clothes, and an ever-changing wardrobe. H&M and Forever 21, along with Target and Walmart fill our closets with junk that, at least for me, is less than satisfying to wear. I realized it was far better to have a few things that made me feel wonderful than a bunch of stuff that was simply new.
Once you get rid of the idea that you need lots of clothes, you can focus on them as an investment. That makes having them tailored or made for you seem far less of a luxury. I know I feel better about myself when I have clothes that fit made of fabric that feels sensuous to my skin.
So for those women who don't find what you want off the rack, think of exactly what you do want, and then find a way to have it made for you. Find a pattern and approach one of the dressmakers on Etsy. Or even approach one of the companies in China or India who are making nice clothes to sell on Ebay. Heck, have two of them made and sell one and see if you can turn your need for a certain size into a business. My thinking is, if you need it, others do too, and where this is a need, there is a business to open.
For everyone on here looking for good quality, attractive clothing that fits look up Atomic Ave. Clothing Co. here on PL. I am very close friends with the woman who makes the clothes and I have also modeled for her. Not only is she an amazingly talented designer and seamstress but she uses great quality materials and handmakes all of her pieces. She makes corsets, cinchers, bras, underwear, halloween costumes, burlesque costumes, dresses, skirts, tops...she will custom make anything or you can choose from one of her finished designs. Another very important thing for bigger women is that she knows how to flatter the body; she isnt going to try to squeeze you into something that you wont be satisfied with. The Atomic Ave. Clothing Co. website should be up pretty soon, but for now the best place to find her will probably be on here or on Facebook or Myspace. Check her out!
I really don't understand this discussion.
The overwhelming majority of "pin-up" photos are shot by GWC's, or are TF's or the model pays.
So the only reason there aren't more plus size "pin-up" photos is because plus size women either don't post or don't get their picts taken.
PS - My usual rate for portfolio work is $1,000 a day. But if any of you ladies wish to, I shoot your port for $600.
I've only begun to model. And it's no trouble finding someone to take the pictures. But some photographers truly don't know how to make us look our best. My friend and photog of two of my shoots is, Tammy Warnock from True Blue Photography. She does amazing work!
It's really good to know that you will shoot anyone, Richard! But I have come across a few photographers that just haven't reached that level of comfort yet.
OK, I'm gonna stop responding. I think I'm p****** off the masses. :ox
To bad they won´t show.
I would love to shoot some of those nice plus sized models in Holland, but even non plus sized pin-up's are hard to find over here.
I've never had a problem finding people to shoot me. That includes TF portfolio work or getting paid. I don't shoot with GWCs, and when I do, I'm getting paid and have no use for the photos anyways. So it's confusing to me to say that the majority of pinup photos are by GWCs.

Dahlia
Bunny, I do features on all kinds of girls over at My Favorite Pinups.
If I had pics of you I'd do one on you
(not that that's a hint or anything ;)
I am a plus size plus age model.
In Austalia they started a contest last year, Miss Pinup Austalia with sections for Perfect Pinups, illustrated Pinups, Classic (over 30) pinups and VaVa Voom girls (over Australian size 14).
I am very proud to say that everyone was catered from.
From that I have been asked to walk in CircaNocturna (the alternative part of Melbourne fashion week) next month for a fabulous designer Harpi.
I have also been aproached by a couple of designers for pictures for their oneline stores.
I'm not saying it's perfect and not everyone will be interested in a VaVa Voom girl but there are chances out there
