Well my list is very different from the authors.

 

1.  Lipstick in a tube.  Made popular by Elizabeth Arden and Estee Lauder during the 1920's and 1930's

 

2.  Fast drying nail polish.  First produced by Charles Revson's Revlon in the 1932.

 

3.  Commercial produced shampoo.  Attributed to Kasey Hebert of London

 

4.  The bobby pin.

 

5.  The cold wave perm.  Invented by Arnold Willat in 1938.

 

6.  Pond's Cold Cream.  Invented in 1846 by Theron Pond.

 

7.  Chanel No. 5.  Of course as the article above noted it's the most popular perfume in the World.  But more importantly from a historical standpoint,it was the first perfume to contain no natural ingredients.

 

8.  Tubed toothpaste.  Made popular by Colgate & Company in the 1890's.

To add to this list.... my FAVORITE beauty product, the only one i have ever stuck to for longer than a month (2 years to be exact) is egyptian magic face cream. ( http://www.egyptianmagic.com/ ) the bottle is really no-fuss which is kind of boring but it works so well. it has royal jelly in it which is amazing. and even though it has olive oil in it, i find it very non oily and actually helps to balance my skin more. it makes it even, smooth, soft, blemish free... all around miracle cream. it apparently helps with acne scars as well so ive heard.

i also recently discovered Obey Your Body peeling gel (http://www.obeyyourbody.com/Product_142.html) although its supposed to go for 60 i got it down to 20! it literally peels away your dead skin before your eyes. kin of gross but really cool! Ive used it for a week now and my skin has never been softer. its the closest thing i have ever found to an overnight treatment. gets rid of blackheads, dry skin, the works. and i also think it minimizes spots a bit. some people say its a scam and its actually the product you see.. but ive used it twice in a row to test that and less came off the first time. anyway so far im sold on it. definitely worth 20 bucks.
