If you are taking iron pills make sure you take lots of vitamin C too, as it makes it easier for your body to absorb the iron. Hope you feel better soon hun. x

If the iron pills are too strong for your system, try a delayed release supplement like SlowFe.  (of course consult w/ your dr first) I am anemic sometimes and take a supplement on a daily basis.  Weird reactions to the iron pill being released into your system can include hot flashes, extreme nausea, dizziness and constipation.   The vitamin C does help the absorption as Ruby said.  Spinach is a good source of natural iron and easy to add to your diet if you use it instead of lettuce.

Get your rest, eat well and be well.

Happy Holidays.

I to am anemic i find if you at a bag of chex mix once a day can help, it has like 4 or 5 % iron.  It helps me when I get that weak faint feeling,

I've been anemic since I was a young teen.  Too much Iron can "clog" you up.  So definately something slow-release.  I actually don't take Iron like I should.  (smacking my own hand).  But it can be lived with.  When you don't feel too great slow down and try to take it easy.

GREAT DISCUSSION YAL! I AM ANIMIC AS WELL AND I GOT ALOT OF GREAT TIPS. THANKS.

My son and I are both anemic. He seems to do fine with it, although I have my moments. It doesn't help that I'm also hypoglycemic, though. I've found that I just have to keep a well balanced diet, and I'll be alright. Although anemia correlates with an iron deficiency, it's not always best to just take an iron supplement. I found that when I would take plain iron pills, I would become sick to my stomach. It's best to take a multivitamin with high amounts of iron, so that your balancing out the rest of your nutritional intake by also receiving other needed vitamins. Prenatal vitamins may be ideal, as they're loaded with everything you could possibly need for nutritional stability. You can easily purchase a bottle over the counter.

My vitamin product of choice is called Vemma. I actually made a post about it on here a while back... It's a bit of an investment, as it's $60 for two bottles that last about 30 days, BUT I love the stuff and live by it. I've had nothing but energy since having started taking it. You can read more about the product itself here... http://www.vemma.com/vemma/

I want to thank you all so much for the great advice. It all a great help and i hope it also helps out others that are having some trouble with be anemic. Be healthy and safe have a happy holiday and great new year!
