Pinup and Porn.. where is the line? NWS!! SORRY!!!

Ok.. so i was looking at this new site thing, pinupparkinglot.. or whatever.. it seems like, to me, that a LOT of pinup models are getting more and more edgy.. or.. naked..
I know there different categories of modeling, but where does the line get drawn as far as pinup style portfolios??

ABSOLUTELY NO OFFENSE to the photographers or models.. these photos are beautiful.. but are they "pinups"?????

Hmm, to me, they aren't pinup, maybe they are touching some of the elements, but I wouldn't sya it's pin up. In my opinion pin up is about the tease and while there iss some nudity in some pinups, I think these pictures are more on the porn or fetish side.

I think that Kim Bombshell was right in saying that Pinup and Fetish have cross over audiences. The photos are Fetish, but I think that they are both beautiful shots.

I will say that i consider the line to be nipples and genitals. Pinup is tease, it is to photography and art what Burlesque is to dance. Pinup is not pornographic, it is good natured, naughty but nice, cute but spicy. To me the best sort of pinup is the off guard accidental exhibitionsim, the thing I call the "Elvgren Oops Factor".

I think many mistake pinup as being denoted by the presence of stockings, garters, and heels fused with retro-esque hairstyle and clothing. To me those are fashion accessories and not a uniform of the ideology.

One can do explicit vintage style erotica( would be awesome and way sexier than the current trend of teased out Silicone Blondes from SoCal) but it wont be pinup. Gil Elvgren is the epitome of pinup as is Alberto Vargas, Betty Grable, Rita Hayworth and even Louise Brooks. These were the girls you could bring home to mom but the dad would give the secret "high Five' while mom wasn't looking. That is pinup = )

WOW! What the hell? Thats not my type of pin-up, way too raunchy for me. Thats beyond crossing the line and should be titled as porn. Thats not artsy- thats just another cheap way of guys getting off some naked chicks posing in sick positions. Everyones entitled to liking what they like but thats really putting a bad taste to something that I believed was alot classier at one point.

I have always felt pin up was much more demure however in this day in age,pin up itself is alot of times considered "fetish". I have been a HUGE fan of christine kesslers work for awhile& love how she makes kink&fetish something so vivid& beautiful. I feel she too looks at pin up as fetish& is simply showing her vision of it. The lines of pin up&porn are definetely blurred here but she has blurred it beautifully.

I see those as fetish as others have said. There was a discussion on Model Mahem a while back as to what pinup is and someone posted the following and I really like it:

total fetish shots. there's a difference between tasteful nudity and straight filth. too me, the second shot featuring the two models is tasteful nudity. it's fetish, but not smut. the first photo, though very beautiful seems a bit smutty. like something you might work on for your significant other.
i personally have an issue with a website that is suppose to feature plus sized "pinup" models. the models are gorgeous and have ample body. but i would say it's about 85% nudity. they just don't strike me as true pinup photos. it just looks like some hornball got as many incredibly large women together as possible, told them all to strip, and started shooting just to get his rock's off.

I agree with sadie. If it's pinup, you should be able to display it. Also, because pinups were always geared towards our military, they could never be nude. They're not allowed to possess anything pornographic.

I agree with whoever talked about the original betty page pictures and Im sure during there day they were considered big time porn. now those images are on t shirts and coffee mugs ... personally I like the pin ups to leave something for the mind to wonder , consider etc .. to each there own
