Under 21 in the retro world

It seems to me that 90% of the shows and events going on in the rockabilly/retro community are located at bars or serve alcohol and require guests to be 21+. I will be 21 in July so I'm not too far off but for now I'm stuck just wishing.

It would be nice if they could just give us like an "X" on the hand so people know not to serve us alchohol or something. It's not like I'm a big drinker anyways

I don't think many venues do that anymore these days, I blame girls under 21 that look like they are 25 for that!

I've been to a few 21+ shows that just "x"ed my hands, but it's only cuz I was actually a part of the show. I've walked in many a fashion show, where I had to rock trashy permanent marker, lmao. I'm not much of a drinker, either, but I still can't wait till my 21st in May. It'll be nice to finally go to shows without having to insure that I'm even "allowed" to be there first. Oh, the joys of designated driving I'm sure I will then be pursuing. Ha.

In a way its good that younger people get into it over there, not that many people do the whole 50's/60's thing here in NZ. Only have to be 18 to drink here though

A guy would kindly offer, a girl would kindly accept. Out of respect a guy wouldn't ask for ID!

Next thing you know girl is drunk off her ass in a corner thanks to nice guys, and the club is getting their license taken away.

LOL! Yup! People never even think twice about it, especially considering the fact that I'm a mommy! I accept that I'm underage, though, and am respectful to those that ARE over the age of 21. For instance, I'm smart enough to not try and abuse my privileges of being in a bar just because I'm a part of the show that's going on there, or getting a guy in trouble by accepting an offered drink. I've seen SO many underage girls get in and drink anyway, causing some pretty massive legal issues with the bar that ends up being held responsible.

I know what you mean about girls being able to really throw you off by their age! I NEVER would have guessed that Mosh is only a year older than me!

I just turned 19 in Oct. and it is extremely aggrivating that I cant get into some bars. Most of my friends are all over 21 and they use their connections to get me in sometimes, but I have to, say, sit in the sound booth and if I get up to go to the bathroom then I get kicked out! (I still feel some resentment about that situation haha) Luckily alot of the time I am in the burlesque or fashion show so I can get in and usually I can hang out afterward.
