So for decades, Talbots was know as the store women of a certain age and of a certain class shopped.

I thought having Linda Evangelista as the face for its Fall 2010 ad campaign was daring.

But with this collection for Spring 2011 Ready to Wear, Talbots is announcing it's not in the business of frumpy grandma clothes anymore.

It's a great combination of early 60's Parisian and American aesthetics.

I hope this re-invention of Talbots works, because these are some beautiful clothes.

Not sure who Talbots are, but I like the stuff from spring '11. looks good!
SHARP designs! Love em.
wow is that woman like 6'2 or 6'5 ? nice looking stuff and yes I thought only like 60 year plus women from the country club shopped at this store but apparently times they are a changing
Funny that you would post this now. Just yesterday I was driving by the Talbots outlet down the street from me, and I thought, "I should go in there, they might have some cute vintage inspired stuff". I knew older ladies shopped there so I thought... maybe. Now I'll for sure be checking it out. Thanks for the post!
my mom is the manager of a talbots and lately she's been bringing home really cute cloths!
I have loved Talbot's since my late 20's, but couldn't afford it so much. The classic styles were always a part of what drew me to them. Now, though, that they are dressing the place up with some younger cuts and shapes, I am going to be looking at their site more often.
Wow, looks like they are trying to compete more with J. Crew and Banana Republic maybe. Could be as long as you're buying something like one of the pleated circle skirts to pair with other things you could totally avoid looking too "old" or "cookie cutter".

Great find for sure!

Granted most models are impossibly tall, impossibly thin and impossibly longed legged, but I'll let you in on a photographer's trick.

Most people when taking a picture do so standing up and the focus point in the face. Just look at the pictures on this site.

But notice where the focus point is on these pictures, either bust line or waist line. This creates the illusion of very long length.

And look at the poses. All of them elongate the model's body. Nothing is compressed.
LOL thats funny ... amazing lil tricks you guys and gals come up with. all I know is based on the response from the ladies id say talbots is missing a huge market if they arent advertisng on this and other like minded sites... hint hint PL ad person should contact them and get some CA$H from talbots for some ads and you can do the shoot ... if this deal goes down a simple 10 percent cut for me seems fair
Im crazy but Dale Bozzio would be bold, cleaned up and in her youth-
for those of you not savy:

*Le Sigh* I wish somehow I could read your thoughts like a book- Im fascinated really I am~
I completely agree with the Parisian and American look comment tho as clever as they were combining the look I honestly think it would've been nicer to have seen a jump into a new direction vs. a subtle move.

Then again I just crave topsy turvey anything.. not that I have anything against a classy, marvelous woman like Miss Linda- and trust me I adore- simply adore her work, but after decades of sing song frump Id have
expected a more edgy person to heat up looks... but I do thinks its a lovely step in the right direction~
(and not that Miss Linda isnt edgy enough- Im in utter love with her)
Daria Werbowy with no eyebrows and an androgynous look maby- I adored her Yves S.L. ads in black & white
she makes me think Parisian ..
I dunno- its 2:42 am and Im sleepless yapping about my thoughts...

eeeeeek way too much fun tho.
Wow! These are some beautiful clothes-and very different from the Talbots we're used to! Years ago, I worked at the Talbots catalog call center, and I remember thinking that there was nothing in that whole catalog that I'd wear. I'd happily wear anything in any of those pictures!
These are great! Very classy.
