When the Photog Leaves You Feeling Rotten...I Need Your Help.

...what do you do? I understand that sometimes the relationship between the photographer and the model can be a difficult one. But in an attempt to sorta get to know the photog I THOUGHT I wanted to have pictures taken with this December. And to allow myself to be comfortable working with a male. We mutually befriended each other. However, I feel I have become the butt of jokes between he and his experienced pinup friends. Clearly I'm not going to give him my business now. And I know my money won't make or break his business. I just think it's poor business on his part.
Anyone else have any experiences like this? Part of me wants to just throw in the towel knowing my looks make pinup an uphill battle for me. The other part says flip the bird at the small-minded people and push on.

I feel the same way... I am new to this world and I love it but the shots I have taken have left me feeling frumpy ugly and just plain bad about myself. I am not an ugly girl (at least I dont think so) a little chunky...I have wanted to throw in the towel myself...but I feel there is someone out there that can capture our true beauty and make us feel like the divas we are....SO keep on girl!!!!
Don't let one person's view set your feelings for the entire industry ... chalk it up to a bad experience that you can laugh about later. Find someone that You can work well with. As for the terms you'll eventually get them. Keep your head up cause nothing bothers people like that more than seeing that it doesn't get to you. There are plenty of others willing to shoot.
I agree with Roxy and Aubrey. Keep in mind the famous quote from Eleanor Roosevelt "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." If this photographer is going to make fun of a potential client, it's his loss.
push on!!
Thank you again, dolls! I hope you all have a good holiday!
Hey sugar! I'm sorry, you (or anyone) had to go thru that. Have you confronted him? You should! Don't let anyone think that crap is ok!! I hate to say this... It wasn't a gender issue. This could have easily been a female. Btw email me the name. I will NEVER work with them! I only work with professional people. You are a doll! Stay strong!!

This is advice that I should be taking right now.....I had a very similar experience like this with the last photographer I worked with and it has me absolutely hating the scene and the industry right now. I "threw in the towel" so to speak after that experience and haven't did a shoot since. I haven't even really dressed "pinup" since then.....or done my hair....etc....I can't remember the last time I wore red lipstick. An experience like that can really turn you off to ALL of it.....especially when you are left feeling like you just aren't cut out to be a pinup.

These are words of wisdom, and I've been told this by several other people as well.
I'm really sorry, GiGi. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had this experience last time I did a shoot and I haven't been inn front of the camera since.

Of course I'm gonna say move on, keep going, keep your head up....but at the same time I know how much it sucks and wanting to "throw in the towel" seems like the best option. You're cute as hell though and like other have said here, don't work with that person again and there ARE plently of other people that will appreciate you and your business.
It's not my normal style,but..............................Flip the bird

Freshen up that towel and jump back in! I'm feeling much better and I've had a much more worthy opportunity come up! *blowing kisses*
this made me really sad to read. it disturbs me hearing that someone who "takes pictures" for a living can EVER put someone down. its ridiculous! you are beautiful & your pictures are fantastic! NEVER let anyone tell you otherwise!
what a bunch of jerks!
DO NOT let a creep photographer and his friends make you in any way feel bad about yourself. All women, all shapes, all sizes are beautiful. Never let anyone take that feeling away from you. Thats the wonderful thing about pin up it enhances everyones natural beauty and is supposed to give you a confidence that no one can take away.
On a side note I am so sick and tired of photographers who do this to people, make them feel small and not worthy of their so called talent!!!!!
