Sometimes the magic jus doesnt happen

So this last weekend I planned an old school drive in photoshoot
complete with servers on skates and some bad ass rods and classic cars-

heres a pic of what couldve been for ya!

Didnt happen sadly, very little girls showed up and to make matters worse,
two girls started fighting!

I canceled the shoot, leaving a distasteful mark against doing any more
free shoots.

Instead of quitting altogether, Im gonna make these more exclusive
in the future.

Meaning a certain amount of girls only, and serious girls must
bring their own stylists.

I decided to pay my stylists 100 bucks each for a wasted and fruitless day.

On the bright side I got to see old friends and have family time with my
baby girl, go shopping and bake some pumpkin pie.

not too shabby for a weekend I guess ;)

Has this happened to anyone else?

Aw, that would have been so much fun... and I even have my own skates! I'm sorry that things didn't work out as expected. My "worst" experience has been a MUA who showed up without half her kit, and held up the whole shoot by two hours while she fetched missing gear... but at least all the models were getting along just fine, chatting and doing our nails while we waited!

That Sucks! I have to side with Seanna - I would have loved to do a shoot like that. Some of us are professionals and some aren't. I'm so sorry that there are girls out there not properly appreciating the sacrifices an artist and photographer makes for good pictures. Hang in there it's worth it in the end.

I use many different types of photoshop and the rest I pretty much over lap several
shots on top of eachother from my Nikon D80-->I use this as my day to day camera

Oh Goodness LEAVE the DRAMA for your momma ladies 4reals. It sounds like it could have been one bad ass shoot! too bad it didn't happen. Well hopefully the ladies that showed up and fought were not PL member cuz if they were Shame SHAME!!

It does hurt the pocket book, but heres how it breaks down- ( well some of it )

MUAs buy makeup and it gets used. photographers upload photos for
review before going to print. models either agree to TFP or buy their prints or
pay for the whole shoot for total control over their photos.
( copy rights and what the photo is used for and how )

Make Up is expensive and gets used up, its not like you can take it clean off
a face and put it back in a jar-

Same with Hair stylists and wardrobe people-

For sanitary reasons things need to be washed and or steamed -
underwear is non refundable-

theres no way I'll wear any worn panties or frilly boy shorts
someone else modeled - eww.

I still payed my people because they took the day off to be with me
and we spent hours planning this.

I was embarrassed this happened in front of professional people
and rather then drag out a potential time bomb of drama
I cut my losses to save face and shut down production.

not to mention my 2year old daughter was there.
yea, def not cool.

people make mistakes and grow from them ( why Im not name dropping )
this helped me to lean to not be super trusting and careful.
lets hope it helps someone out in the future.
