Hey!

Just wondered if anyone else here plays roller derby?

Until recently I played for RWRG but had to leave due to it being quite far away. I miss it so much though and it kept me so fit and healthy. The gym is not as fun!

Hi Amy!

I'm proud and excited to say that I just joined for Fresh Meat training here in my home town of Toronto, Canada! I will start training in January. My fiance is also training me now so that I will be ahead of a lot of the girls in my group. I got myself all new equipment and a brand new pair of Riedell cherry red Diablo derby skates!

I really hope that I make the cut! Toronto Roller Derby actually have their championship this Saturday and I can't wait... I LOVE ROLLER DERBY!!

I attended the 3 month boot camp for the Kansas City Roller Warriors and made it through try outs last year. My scheduling got completely out of whack due to moving, so I wasn't able to make it to the practices when interviews were scheduled, so I wasn't able to be placed on a team. I was super bummed, but will be going for it again next year.
Have you been following the championship bouts? Oly Rollers were kickin' some tail during day two, but I'm placing my bets that the Rocky Mountain Roller Girls take the final win.

Oh, and I'm not all too fond of it, but I've got a derby shot as well, lol.

That's ace, good for you! I'm sure you'll love it. I'm helping a new team get started at the moment, can't wait to get skating again.
The problem we have in England though is that there aren't many places to skate - roller rinks aren't really something we have. We generally have to train in school halls and sports centres and it's hard to find a venue...

Ah well, we shall keep looking.

That's a nice shot! I've been to quite a few games in the UK this year, Saw the London Rollergirls play the Uk All Stars which was fantastic! x

Nice to know there are other derby girls on here!
I've been a part of the Long Island Roller Rebels in NY for 3 years. I played for 2 years and I've been a coach and co-announcer for the last year. I also write the blog for the league. I agree that it is SUCH a great way to stay in shape.

By the way peeps, the skates I'm wearing in my pic aren't my derby skates, of course! I have Riedells for derby
