Hi everyone =)

Just wanted to say hi, and ask for some help I guess!

I'm still fairly new to this lifestyle and, as much as I've never felt more like myself than I do in a corset and a pair of stockings, think I need a fair bit of help to get some of the basics right!

Derby isn't the greatest place for alternative or vintage fashion really, the Westfield centre provides most commonplace stores but nothing really different.

What's the easiest way to translate pin-up to everyday fashion? Baring in mind I work in a tiny little second hand phone store, and am rather tall (5"10 1/2) so heels aren't something I'm massively comfortable in, my partner says I'm Amazonian =p

Any help/advice/new friends will be massively appreciated =)

xx

I'd say it's about the details.
Maybe curling the hair or sleeping in pin curls isn't the first thing you do.
But check out some cute accessories like earrings, hair flowers and such.
A pencil skirt and a cute top, pin in a little hair flower and you are on your way!

I think that above items are working both in the "pinup scene" if matched with good styling, and they are so basic they could work anywhere.
If you do your hair and makeup as well you can go straight from work to a nice rockabilly club

Look around here at PL and you'll get tons of inspiration, have fun!
I love having my hair curled, although my past experiences curling it myself haven't been great (massive burn on the top of my right ear where I decided to curl my earlobe!) I think I may invest in sleep-in curlers, seems a lot less hazardous haha

I so wish we had a rockabilly club in Derby =(

Definately check out etsy.com.
You can find amazing vintage clothing, jewelry, purses, etc. in ALL SIZES for more than half the cost of modern retro and reproduction. It will be way better quality as well.I'm constantly getting one of a kind, vintage dresses off of there, for under $50.So browse under vintage and browse often!
I've found some amazing stuff in charity shops, it just takes aaaages to sort through everything they have in there

I had tons of rockabilly stuff before, but decided I was far too tall and not sexy enough to pull it off, can't say I've really felt at all like my self since, and I was quite young then
