"Mad Men" costumer Janie Bryant always dresses the show's characters in captivating retro looks, now she's going to design something for the rest of us!
Bryant greeted fans at the QVC pop-up shop in New York City to promote her new Janie Bryant MOD line for the shopping network and wore some of the collection's signature pieces, including a reversible teal swing coat, cascading statement necklace (with detachable brooch), and slim black cigarette pants.
Janie says "This collection isn't about the show per se, but about the drama. It's about the glamour of the '50s and '60s. But it's also a modernization of those looks. I think of the collection as pieces you can incorporate into a modern wardrobe. Mix them with your own things for a look that can be vintage or contemporary."
Styled to look like vintage pieces, the 20-piece collection is jacket heavy – with a faux fur animal-print jacket and matching pillbox hat, a reversible raspberry satin swing coat, boleros, and capelets.
In addition, there will be 10 to 15 pieces of jewelry including necklaces and pins. Items in this collection are priced from $26 to $138.
As if that's not enough... she's also designing a line of nail polishes called Nailtini, inspired by vintage fabrics (the colors of which I am in love with!). Her Nailtini polishes, which retail for $14, are available online at QVC.com and at retailers including Duane Reade and CVS.
