Someone asked Carly this: Hi Carly, i have written to you before, My question for you is this, My children have often overheard people say to us, oh you poor dears, we dont feel that way we feel very lucky. How do you as one who has autism feel when you hear this? I would like to have an idea how our boys feel at these times, as they dont speak but thru sign.
And this was her answer: I hate when that happens my moms friend just had a tragic accident happen and she had one of her two autistic sons pass away and people told her its for the best.
It’s really sad the way society views the importance of life just because he was different does not mean he did not have any importance or any things to teach us. We all have feelings even if we don’t often show it at times.

I can not believe someone would say that to a parent! It's just sick... sometimes people make me sick.
Wow. That is amazing! I hope this changes peoples minds about those with autism. That incredibly smart girl was inside all along. This will give hope to a lot of people with family members with autism and hopefully inspire them to never give up the battle.
That is so inspiring and beautiful! That must take so much strength from the entire family. Carly is also giving so much hope and power to other autistic children, what a great role model!
Wow... just, wow. This is crazy amazing. I can only imagine how much hope this has provided to the families of those with autism, especially those that are against Autism Speaks. Rather than trying to force a child into being what society pushes to be considered as "normal", work with their gift and adapt to their needs-and that's exactly what the family did here. I don't think anything could be more inspiring.
